Looks great. That helm console is beautiful. The more I watch this the more I want to go find an old pontoon and do the same thing. The real beauty of a pontoon is that everything is so accessible. Everything can be screwed or through bolted to the floor which makes working on it a pleasure.

Looking good! Maybe you were already going to do this, but you may want to add drainage tubes from the bottom of the cup holders and feed the tubes through the floor. Especially the ones in the helm. This will make sure any rain water that builds up in the cup holders drains into the lake instead of into your helm.

For the gauges we run the wiring first, connect to the gauge so that they screw all the way down to the back of the gauge. makes a better and tighter fit for the wire connections when compared to the way you did it against teh plastic mount. Either way works but why not just wire first through the gauge hole? Then mount the plastic bracket?
@adaminjp8 ай бұрын
Love the console. Do you have a video of how you built it or plans available? Would love something similar and not the plastic junk ones available from online vendors.

hi looking good with that steer base setup i seen many that have the Y two bolts at top and one at bottom was told that so many people use the wheel to pull back on when getting up out of seat this would also allow for correct aline (sign on top dead center) of screw holes for cover plate
@-Viceroy-5 жыл бұрын
Damn that is starting to look good!!
@daddski12 жыл бұрын
Did you find that your engine steers backwards? :-) Normally when we rig boats at my shop the cable has to go in top first. That way when you turn left it pulls the front of the engine right. The other thing I see was the postiion you mounted your steering bracket. Normally it has an angle built in so you do the two hole side at the Bottom and single at the top. This also allows your two holes in the plastic cover to be level at the sides.

Your video popped up in my recommended, watched whole series and subscribed. Really good series. 👍 One question: Are you planning on polishing/deoxidizing the toons; if yes, why not do it when it was a bare frame and more accessible?
@BrandonsGarage5 жыл бұрын
Didn't know how I was going to approach it at the time. Didn't do it when it was a frame as the problem isn't on the top of the toons, but the calcium build up at the water line.

Looks like you have a decent amount of room on top of the console between the cup holders to mount a smaller(7 inch maybe?) GPS should you want one in the future. Could also mount it in the area to the left of the trim gauge. Any plans for a sound system? Maybe one of those round Bluetooth head units mounted next to your depth gauge. Couple speakers strategically mounted. Nothing crazy, but tunes while out on the water are nice. Really like that trash can idea. Solid work by your father on the console and thought to hide a trashcan in there.
