I ❤ Ruby! Has she ever played with the wooden block towers? Changing and rotating toys is pretty important to keep these birds stimulated and entertained. Those “foraging wheels” can be pretty useful as well!

I fix those concrete saws all the time. For some reason everyone always blows the engines either running straight gas in them or not mixing enough oil. Someone just dropped one off at my shop today for me to fix it and it had 100 percent straight gas in it. I told him the engine was blown just from looking at the gas and pulling the cord twice. They are expensive little saws to take the risk of not using the correct gas mix.

Peter, I know you don't want to think about this but Ruby needs a mate. Maybe not a breeding mate but a companion, she is lonely. She can outlive Humans and she needs someone too!!

Exactly what I was thinking. A companion is what she needs. Usually birds are kept in pairs, so they can accompany each other and socialize. I know it's easier said than done though, because with two birds everything doubles. Food, care, time, etc.

Before introducing a Mate its better to try other things because this can be verry stressful for both birds to just simply add extra background noise when shop gets quite such music or a podcast also rotating and changing up the Toys every 2-3 days can go a long way in overall happiness.

companionship. Without one, they could end up being depressed, angry, or simply unhappy. A parrot needs companionship just like any other pet. If your bird has been living alone all its life, it will be very lonely if left on its own.

Ruby knows how to get attention. Every time Ruby is screaming, someone is saying: Ruby!! So the more screaming, the more attention. Since she is going crazy because of boredom, the screaming has become more intense. Just some thoughts.

Hi from Indiana. I also have Macaws and African Grey's. My birds will spend an hour busy with a box, have you tried offering her some boxes to destroy while she's acting out? Also as others may have mentioned, hormones a bit stronger this year? Hope you figure it out hun, absolutely adore seeing her in the videos. She makes my day. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I have two birds, and from time to time they get loud and just crazy. Toys will help, but sometimes they just are very hormonal. That's why she was loving on the plushie. So toys will be a short term solution, but really she probably is just got raging hormones. Remember when you were a teen?!? 😂

Ruby is beautiful and I never would have guessed her age correctly! I got bitten by my friend's African Grey .. wow that hurt😮. Got me pretty badly on the finger. I am more nervous around parrots now than dogs !😅

Hi Pete! I used to have a Moluccan Cockatoo, which is a very large bird similar to Ruby. She would also scream when she didn’t get enough attention or didn’t have enough stimulation with toys, etc. They are very smart so they absolutely need that stimulation or they get bored, will start plucking their feathers, etc.. Additionally, I read that in the wild, parrots will compete with each other vocally. In our habitat, they don’t have other parrots so they tend to compete with what’s around them: people and even things like radios or TVs! I would definitely suggest giving her some really strong puzzle toys, especially when she acts out for attention. There used to be a toy called Kong that my bird loved - you could stuff treats inside and then she had to work at it to get the treats out. Anything that is like a puzzle will entertain her. Best of luck - she is a beautiful bird and in great shape for being 47 years old!!

I forgot to mention to change the toys in her cage or on her perch every few days. They get bored very easily so changing the toys keeps them entertained!
