Man... Thank you so much for this video! I was replacing my blown twins over the weekend and found a pretty bad oil leak, it's coming from that crankshaft aluminum housing, looks like it's sealed with gasket sealant instead of a gasket. It's a way bigger job to get all that off to get to it then I thought. Since my engine is on the higher mile side, looks like I'll be getting a new long block instead of tearing my old one down all the way just to fix the leak. Thanks again for these videos! 👊👍💪

Subscribed as well just in case I need to come back to this video for more info. Thank you for filming this! From what I saw there is no removable timing cover. How would you change out the timing chain and guides with the engine still in the car? I you were to pull that main crank bolt you could remove that seal surface and the chain sprocket. Could you snake the chain off the crank? I have an n55 with 175k miles, I'm looking at doing some preventative maintenance. Not too many people have had to replace the timing chain yet because they aren't at these mileages yet. I hear the chain & guides should last over well over 200k if not abused. Luckily there are no indicators that my engine has been abused.

Dude was probably two-stepping it which caused the oil pump bolts to shear. Or back out from the vibration cause by two stepping.

dropped a piece of gasket about two and a quarter inches long while cleaning the valve cover gasket job is this going to messed up my engine please response I thank you

The serpentine belt in my 328i broke and sucked inside, the cranckshaft won’t turn so i dont know whats wong, can you tell me what could be the problem or the solution?

Have the same problem my next step is to drop oil pan clean sumpt and still trying to figure out how to clean the debree out of the belt? No mechanic will touch this problem in Colorado they say it messes up crank bearings so the engine is no good so they want me to buy a new one and so far all the quotes from an auto shop say the same thing? But I don’t believe it so I am trying to do it my self? Still looking for answers as i can save my engine with out buying a new one and how to clean.? And it won’t start because the oil is cloged by a screen In front of pump. So that’s why it won’t start all sensors are good I’ve checked it just need to be cleaned out and replace the rubber bushing where belt got suck in and it will start again I am pretty sure. But when I talk to mechanic s they say it messes up the bearings and the engine is no good can’t be replaced. But from this video it looks like you can replace bearing and crank shaft if ruined . I am still searching for answers on why it would and if it’s true if rubber can mess the bearings up?🤔

Joseph Alexandre yeah because they read all about the problem and they know there’s a lot of money to be made by just saying that. So any mechanic that says that is a lie they won’t even look to diagnose it. My friend says they will scratch the bearings and pistons to trick u into buying a engine but they buy it 1800 and rebuild yours . This is what you need to do . It can mess your engine up if some how something brakes and called into piston which will brake it. But u have to run it and u will hear the piston knocking and frying but bmw engine has a fail safe mode witch will won’t let the car start untill u fix the problem . But u don’t need a computer after u fix it u just need push the start button let it turn on but don’t start for about 5 minutes to collaborate turn off then start and everything will sycronize. But the main thing if u don’t wanna get ripped off is drop the oil pan clean with starting fluid and spray the timing belt most likely one of the brackets will brake by the seal and the plastic peice that comes with seal so might have to re due chain which is called vanos timing set rebuild what ever? And clean pump then take splash guard off crank shaft inside oil pan and check each bearing and replace anyway not expensive then at top engine spray starting fluid and and pour diesel in each cylinder all three engine and then pour oil this is the formula you can do it the way u want to wash your engine and possibly if u have any other chemical that will work should be fine I am still looking. But do it untill the debree is clear then put together replace seal set time and it will start. Won’t start with pump cloged but if u clear it and u don’t clean all debris it will get into your pistons and possibly have to replace the piston block. I can do this for 500 if anyone needs this u just have to buy the parts . Since everything is made and designed the work is child play mechanics are a joke. There just labor that’s it that has rights to the diagram. The only thing is that they go to school for the termology:)) since no mechanic wanted to help me I have no respect for any mechanic that works at a shop. Good luck have to buy a jack and some stands I’ll make a video on this once I am done fixing mine. Taking me awhile because I am not rich and guys here in Colorado do not want me to be better than them but I am who I am and if I am better oh well not my fault I am just living life . I am very poor no family so fuck off!!

Joseph Alexandre once this is replaced or if u mechined the engine I believe it should bring the value of the car up 5o% the 25 each interior and exterior. If that can all be renewed or replace and cleaned and remechined frame I believe any car no matter what year should be sold at original price! But other words once u do this u will have another 100 miles before replacing bearing sleeves’? And it’ll be like it was new

@@mike77- TL:DR The main risk is screwing the sprockets or oil pump pick up and starving the engine by blocking inlet. Instead of paying bucks to find that out, usually getting a good used engine is faster and better if the engine will not turn.

How much of a oil leak does it take for it to start having long cranks? Mechanic said i have to replace my crankshaft seal since i have an oil leak but my car starts like a champ.
