I put my cases together, Stuart to finish in less than 40 minutes, and all I used was our freezer and stove. The cold crank went into the first crankcase half with just a little force. I had contemplated this would be the most difficult part of the assembly and it was the easiest. The hardest was the chain break assembly.

I've used 515 for years in different applications with great results, I'm sure 1184 would work well also, I dont have a freezer or a stove in the barn that's why I purchased the crank installation tool from Mathew Olson and let me say this using this tool you no longer have to be in a hurry up mode you literally can take your time. The chain break can be a pain at times

I put 1184 on my bar oil hose before I put it in. It has not leaked. I put mine in before I put the engine halves together, too. I also used 1184 on both halves to seal the bar oil tank. I have not had any oil links fro this tank, either. I put a little 1184 on the assembly pins, too, to keep them in place. I did not like 1184 on my base gasket seal. I used Dirko on it after the 1184 seal broke on me. I also like the metal base gasket from hL supply’s gasket set.

I use 1184 in place of the metal gasket Only issue I've had using 1184 was on a Poulan Clam Shell.
