So the one Ethan was confused about them "painting the floor", that was Auto-leveler, you mix a powder with some water and get this bucket of watery looking mud that levels the floor over the course of around 12-24 hours. It is indeed a part of redoing the floor to make sure its level! (just thought some other people would be curious and want to know) :)

Over the summer, I had a pool cleaning job where we’d drain the pool and just do a deep clean with pressure washers and acid mixtures. It was so satisfying! I got to use one of the circular ones a lot and it was so fun. The only downside to pressure washing in a drained pool is that you get drenched from all the mist and water spraying right back at you.

Popcorn ceilings were/are popular mainly because it hides the sheetrock joints and mudding mistakes. Especially in mass manufactured homes. It's faster and easier and probably cheaper to slap some popcorn texture up there than to use skill and precision to make a flat ceiling look nice
