The final ending is the Echo/Narrator's perfect ending. It's his ending. A stagnant, deathless world, but now ruled by a god that ultimately is a nihilistic god. The Long Quiet is a being of stasis, a reactive entity which represents stagnant decay. He is a quiet, ordered entity. While Shifty is certainly extreme, she isn't incorrect. She is chaos, the insanity of life itself, and the finality of death. Her flaw is that, like the Narrator, she believes herself infallible. She doesn't have to end the universe NOW. She could do it in a slower rate. She is a essentially a hyperactive child, compared to the Long Quiet. Worst of all: You're alone. You have nothing to offer perspectives, as the Voices are gone. You are a dull, empty entity. That's why the two gods need each other. The issue is that Shifty is too overbearing. I'd have preferred if you could, by beating her argument, convince her that she can, essentially, calm down and moderate. This doesn't feel like an ending that is deserving of having to get 5 Red Text options.

@@Zigzf The way I see it is that TLQ is what "slows" her rate of change, in the Stranger route we see what an existence would be like without TLQ to have a function of non-change present and it's utter chaos, nothing stays the same for even a moment, to me this shows his existence acts sort of like a break to slow the rate of change, to give periods where things don't change. Considering what TLQ and TSM are I'd find it odd that they can't alter the ratio between them for how quickly the universe changes through their wills, I would have liked if going through the 5 red options allowed a compromise ending that way, the ending also makes a statement that TLQ is able to exist without TSM "defining his shape" as she put it, which is a powerful statement in and of itself.

I always like to imagine that after the long quiet killed the shifting mound, the world he created, where everything is ever moving but never decaying ends up being Rain world. an ordered world with uninterrupted experience, but you can't really kill the shifting mount, you can't stop change, so she is just re-assembling herself really slowly on the depths of this new world, slowly harvesting experiences from every soul that is born in this new place with new rules. @@reicho3034 The wiki also says that at some routes we change according to the princess or to what we believe. For example, in the wrath we see pur legs and pretty much half our lower body so its pretty safe to say that we dont have any clothing, as also in the fury route when she 'unwounds us' we dont see any fabric or whatsoever However, in the prisoner route, when we ask Narrator for evidence, he asks us to check our pockets and we are able to do that. Hence, if we have pockets we have pants or lower clothing at the least. He made us believe something, and it came true. It seems that he can simply shift the construct however he wants aslong as we believe what he says Also in the Thorn, we are able to kiss her, hence no beak, however, in the Adversary, when she punches our face we are able to see our beak splattered on the walls of the cabin. Hence, we do have a beak My point is, we also, similarly to the princess, shift according to our own belief. In the new dawn ending, our wings expand, that is because the Long Quiet is us (or more accurately our wings that we have no awareness of) and then our wings grow, and the void opens, that is because our wings were glued or sticked together, working as a cage, then when they grew they started detaching, hence opening the void Like what the video of Princess Pointless dump said, we are the wardens of our own prison

No more babies, meaning no more cries and fears, but also no more growth and joy. No more learning, because learning means making mistakes and then struggling to realize what was wrong in what you did. No more arts, because creating something anew would be destroying something to make something else. All those events require the possibility to carry out so many changes that would be never be possible in that Brave New World. The ending literally describes how you, being the new god of this world, can make up or create anything you wish, alter reality to your very whim; you alone can make it an eternal, ever growing, ever lasting paradise, ever moving, but never decaying. It's not the "Happily Ever After" route where everything that happens gets worse and worse, it's the opposite. The concept of immortality isn't good or bad, it's what you do with that which is what matters; the Narrator wanted to end the Shifting Mount so that he could save everyone in his dying universe, and he specifies that he made the cut rough on purpose so that it wouldn't literally end change itself, but rather death, so that you can continue to experience new things, forever, rather than being stuck and frozen. I am so sick and tired of how people continue to bastardize the concept and make it unnecessarily horrifying for no damn reason.

17:00 One thing I never understood about this ending is why all the voices vanish. They don't vanish when you kill her heart, so why would they vanish by killing The Shifting Mound by yourself? Secondly, I also don't like how this ending gives you a get out of jail scott-free card when you've been nasty to literally everyone in the game (the alternate version to the Unending Dawn ending where all the voices gang up on you. Smitten dishing out the banger line, "There's no good ending for you."), as this ending and if you're optionally nasty to the voices is The Long Quiet at his absolute most callous, and he gets away with it. It's like all the voices die, and they can't give you consequences for your actions, so it kind of makes the Unending Dawn ending (asshole version) have less impact. It just doesn't sit right that you can get away with being absolutely wretched with zero consequences when in my opinion, this is the ending you get if you are 100% intending on being rude and cruel to everyone around you. Hell, if you *try* to kill her heart and backing off from the kill ending, you can't even kill her heart. The knife vanishes, so you're forced to leave with The Princess, and you face zero consequences for being a douche. Not really a fan of that.

To be honest, I thought the new ending was going to be that TLQ somehow finds a way to end himself and let Shifty be the only god. Or an ending where they both exist but it'll be like a divorced relationship instead of being together. But I guess that's what the oblivion ending is, huh? They just both die. I personally think it's unnecessary since the New Dawn (all voices hate you) ending is pretty much the worst one in my eyes. This one is practically the same but you're COMPLETELY alone and everything is stagnate. It's honestly worse because there is no one to accompany you at all. Idk, I was fine with another bad ending with Shifty having problems of her universes dying too fast or something. Plus, it finally gives her absolute control for once instead of TLQ making choices for her. Idk. There's definitely way more potential.
@reubensalter81252 ай бұрын
@@maybeimtorn5712 But it's fine because oblivion is still worse - there really are worse things to be alone. And you still have that piece of her inside you so you're not truly alone. And the devs wouldn't have made it like this if it weren't for a reason.
@geet98302 ай бұрын
I like it because it was kinda strange you couldn’t slay the shifting mound without a voice when TLQ is a god of equal power. plus the game’s theme of choice and breaking harmful patterns of behavior is stronger knowing TLQ could put an end to shifty on his own, but chooses not to.

The god of eternity or stasis wants to stay with the god of change forever, but that eternity must end because of the god of change. The princess needs change, she doesn't want eternity even if she loves The Long Quiet. She will seek a way to end this or escape from the unchanging world. as shown by other endings were she leaves after saying 'it's cold'.

If you mean accessing the Happily Ever After route then you get there from the Damsel route. After freeing her keep questioning what makes her happy until you get the option to stay in the cabin and that'll give you the Voice of the Paranoid for the route. Start to leave but decide to stay in cabin before leaving to access with the route with the Voice of the Opportunist. If you're trying to get the red text response with the Shifting Mound you just need to follow through and slay the princess during the Happily Ever After route.

I don't really get the point of the show mercy option. Since you still end up inside her. The voice of the hero jumps in saying the same stuff about "how you can't do this alone" which is nonsense as you were clearly overpowering her. It would have been interesting if she had accepted a servial role or something with you as the ruling power of your new reality. Either that or just absorb her entirely and become corrupted with her perspective on things.
@reubensalter8125Ай бұрын
It's not nonsense - you're basically yielding and choosing a non-violent option which clearly isn't working. That's why Hero comes and takes to her heart. Plus she clearly would hate being in a serial role because she has a part of us inside her that would basically refuse that. Not to mention she's also above it. And why that when we can do this together as equals? And I really hate the idea of a reverse Tower-Broken dynamic - it shows we're no better than the worst more egoistical, parts of her, except, instead of them just being parts of us, we truly embody them. Plus we already have her perspective - there's a part of her inside us too. And absorbing her wouldn't work since it was already repeatedly stated that the split the narrator made to create us was permanent and couldn't be undone.

End routes with carrying out slaying the princess (so the Thorn route doesn't work because even if you choose to slay her, the thorns stop you). The Stranger gives the red text by default.
