I purchased 2 of those planes at FliteFest. One for me and one for my students to build in my aeronautics STEAM class. They are finishing up on their F22, but I’m hoping we’ll get started on space fighter soon.

An quick point about CG. If the elevator is in front of the CG, then it is reversed as it is PIVOTING around the CG point.
@TX_Nano.5 сағат бұрын
I knew immediately on the first attempt that you had the elevator reversed 😂. Canards are unique beasties.
@TheRcSaylors4 сағат бұрын
Oh, try 4 attempts to finally get it right!! I feel so goofy now, but just had absolutely no idea!! We all make easy mistakes sometimes, and I want people to know it’s very normal and not to give up. Thanks for tuning in and Happy Flying!! 👍🙏💯😎⚓️

The great thing about FliteTest is you can trace the pattern out before assembling on poster board and assemble crashed parts back easily with toothpicks, bar b que skewers and popsicle sticks. Or just assemble a new airframe for less than 5 dollars of foam board. Many of their airframes have free downloadable plans you can make as well for less than 5 dollars. Make a Nutball video someday. Those are the easiest to make and very fun to fly!!

Simple thing to remember. Control surfaces just "point" the nose in the intended direction.

We’ve had a ton of fun building, flying, crashing and rebuilding FT planes. I just finished a Spitfire that I got free plans for on their website and shrunk it down to 75% which gives me an 810mm wingspan. Test flight tomorrow. Only cost me 2 sheets of foam board and some paint.

Well definitely one of your more interesting reviews 🤭😼. Abby didn't have any trouble droning 😏. No instructions to read huh Nate 🤔 😁😁. It did fly reasonably well. I noticed the canard had a blunt front, wouldn't a normal curved for air flow have worked better 🤔. Was it the wind resistance ❔️ or does it need more power or battery. Nother try is certainly required. ⚓️⚓️👍💛🧡💚🤭😼😏😁🤔❔️👍⚓️⚓️.

Have you thought about reversing the elevator channel in the remote to make it easier for muscle memory to fly?
@paulwaffler82083 сағат бұрын
That's what I was thinking
@TheRcSaylors3 сағат бұрын
lol, I love this comment! That’s what I did! WOW, it hurts my brain to imagine having to fly with reverse control surfaces from the transmitter itself! The strange thing is, when I pull back on the elevator, the control surface on the Space Fighter Canard actually goes down in order to make the craft go up! I hope that helps clarify. 😅💯🙏👍⚓️

Mine flew the first time (1:42) as I built it at Flite Fest with Jason at his seminar. But...i then flew for 42 sec but tail heavy. The third flight wound up 50 ft. in a tree. My fault. Lost control and had to get a tree company to get it down. Still need to adjust the canards as one is a bit higher than the other. Maybe adjusting the ailerons will help.

I think the big wings go first wait a minute OMG it's flying but it sure looks backwards to me
@BillKisel2 сағат бұрын
So, did you reverse the servo allowing you to change pitch without thinking about the canard having replaced the horizontal stabilizer?
@TheRcSaylors2 сағат бұрын
Normal elevators are “pull back on the right stick, elevator control surface moves UP, which then gives lift!” This “Canard” Space Fighter with the horizontal stabilizer and elevator on the front works by “pulling back on the right stick, still aiming for lift, however the control surface of the elevator actually moves down, which gives lift and blows my mind!!” I hope this helps make sense of this wild thing!! 👍😎💯😁⚓️
@BillKisel2 сағат бұрын
@TheRcSaylors Yeah, so reverse the servo and you don't have to think about it, right?

Please PLEASE let's not do the thumbnail thing where you have the expression of someone who just saw their grandparents having sex. Please. I've had to unsub from other channels who decided to do that all the time, and it was a bummer. I think any extra views you get will be from emotionally stunted toddlers who were trying to tap on a Jim Carrey thumbnail. The views will be up, but the retention will be down, because what is the audience a thumbnail like that caters to? Not someone who wants to learn to fly an RC plane, more like someone looking for the next Skibidi-toilet video. I'm not trying to be a jerk, or insult you, but gee whiz golly willikers, I won't be a part of the gradual dumbing down of society or catering to the infantile dunderheads which are being bred.

This was a genuine feeling though, and I think our content reflects it well, lol. I promise, I don’t plan on making that face many more times in my life!! This space fighter had me rolling, but in a good way for sure!! We are always happy to know you’ve tuned in my friend!! Now, please let me know your thoughts about the video itself and the content 🙏❤️ I worked insanely hard to make this video happen from start to finish. It would mean a lot to me if you gave feedback on all of the other stuff we did and not just my goofy face 🤪 😉💯😎⚓️
