Always loved the concept of this fight. Two fights happening at once and still watch out the attacks from your ally. And at the final HP, Uka Uka stops fighting Aku Aku and aims for Crash.

Not sure if this was in the originals but I like how during the first phase Aku Aku is trying not to hurt you with his laser but Uka Uka is. It really subtle but a nice touch.

I have to admit I am disappointed with how this one turned out. In the original, Cortex threw the mines at a faster rate, his shots exploded when they hit the ground, the masks were a lot faster and during the final phase the explosions they caused were a lot bigger and had more BOOM in them. Yeah, I miss all of that in this fight.

Looking back, not really, the bombs are thrown at the same speed they just explode immediately after one another. The shots' explosions aren't really any bigger than the shots themselves and the masks were much bigger than they were in this game anyway.

Yeah, I noticed the floatiness of the mines in the newer one as well. Seems like a common theme that's present through the entire trilogy. Particularly on Pinstripe's boss battle, he kinda floats off and on the tables, and his bullets come out super slow. And yes, definitely noticed the mask explosions feeling weak as. In the original, the explosion engulfed both of them and the effect lingered for a bit after the impact. If you really want weak though - check out N Gin's final move from Cortex Strikes Back compared to the original. Oh boy was that disappointing.

Graphically, yes, they did come out short (Although Cortex's shots exploding never made sense to me), but difficulty? I actually feel that if you played and mastered the original, this fight can screw your timing because there's actually some differences. Cortex shoots slower, meaning you must survive the masks longer. Cortex throws the mines slightly slower so his shield also fizzles a bit later. The mines also explodes each other, and sometimes that can catch players off guard. Lastly, the mask's explosions no longer destroys the mines. One of my friends is a master of the original, and despite he's still playing the original to date, he died a few times here, because the timing is different. Had to admit the music is a masterpiece, tho.

Fun Fact: Cortex's Icon here (in the Remakes) is the same one used on the Tubes in Piston it Away/Spaced Out. Also, the "N" logo in those levels (and the "N' logos in The Lab) appears to be in the TMNT font.

I am so retarded. I failed this fight like 30 times. I am THAT dumb. And not only that, but I actually managed to beat Cortex, TWICE, but ended up falling down the hole in the middle after defeating him, having to start over. BOTH times. No one is on my level in terms of stupidity.
