Originally, this level would have had more of a story based progression with Coco being captured by gorilla tribesmen and Crash having to rescue her before she was sacrificed by making his way to the top of the volcano. This early version would have culminated in a miniboss fight against the tribe's leader. I think the cage with the skeleton is leftover from this as there is an image of Coco in that cage.

Well, not just bad controls and bad reviews. Ahem, ahem: A minor nitpick, but it’s sad that every boss fight is against Crunch in some way, while Tiny, Dingodile, N Tropy, and N Gin were demoted to just enemies. Yes, while there were vehicle and Coco stages in Crash Warped, there’s simply too much of them here. Some of the vehicles even are part of the levels themselves. You don’t need to use the spin until Level 7, while the other games block your path in in either of the very first two levels with a crate wall to make sure you know about the spin attack.

I think that every level in this world is meant to not represent space, but the elements. I mean think about it, Cortex revived and got the Elementals to do what he wanted, it's only appropriate to have a world where you go through levels that represent them. Crash and Burn would represent Py-Ro and fire. Gold Rush would represent Wa-Wa and water. Medieval Madness would represent Rok-Ko and earth. Crate Balls of Fire would represent Lo-Lo and air. Cortex Vortex would represent Cortex and space.

you neednt use the bazooka on every nitro crate in the bonus. the nitro switch crate at the end of the level will explode them if you hit it. and surrounding crates i believe.

What I did was to just get both gems without having to start the whole level over. You need to hit all Crates for the gray gem, and don’t die to reach the route towards the red one.

Fun Fact: You can actually get all 138 Boxes in "Crash & Burn" as Coco without any cheats.

Tbh I really love this level, it's so different from the rest. I think it was in the prototype of what the game was meant to be before they scrapped the original design of the game.

@@duelz9366 Yeah it definitely seems like this was one of the first levels made. The game was originally to be more explorational and dynamic but Universal pushed for a more conventional Crash game. I think Banzai Bonzai and Jungle Rumble were other early levels that got fine tuned as they went along, they're other ones you see in early form in a lot of previews. Ice Station Bandicoot was also an early platform level originally (you can see the remains below).
