Here is a summary of the key points and conclusions from the video: Introduction * Inositol, sometimes referred to as Vitamin B8, is a vitamin-like compound that plays important roles in health maintenance. * It was initially thought to be an essential nutrient, but the body can synthesize upwards of 4 grams per day. However, many people don't make enough and low levels are linked to various health conditions. * Top food sources of inositol include meats, citrus fruits (except lemons), melons, leafy greens, bananas, almonds, peas, peanuts and sunflower seeds. Functions of Inositol * Cell Signaling: Inositol acts as a "secondary messenger" to help transmit signals from hormones and other molecules into cells. This impacts many cellular processes and functions. * Blood Sugar Regulation: Inositol plays a key role in insulin sensitivity and preventing insulin resistance, which is the underlying cause of diabetes. * Fat Metabolism: It is involved in fat metabolism in the liver. Deficiency can contribute to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. * Neurotransmitters: Inositol is important for proper neurotransmitter signaling and is linked to mental health conditions like anxiety and depression. * Calcium Regulation: It helps regulate calcium release and influx into cells for proper functioning. Symptoms of Inositol Deficiency * Fatty liver accumulation, confirmed via ultrasound. * Abnormal blood sugar regulation - prediabetes, insulin resistance, elevated fasting glucose, elevated A1C. * Depression, anxiety, mood changes. * Abnormal menstrual cycles - severe PMS, cramping, headaches. * Muscle cramping due to impaired calcium regulation. Research on Inositol * Human studies show inositol can outperform antidepressant drugs for treating conditions like depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and panic attacks. 18 grams per day was effective. * Reviews show clinical benefits for PCOS, metabolic syndrome, Alzheimer's disease, cancer, respiratory distress syndrome, and more. Mainly through improving insulin sensitivity. * For gestational diabetes, it prevents onset and improves outcomes. It also prevents neural tube defects in folate-resistant women. * Very effective for treating PCOS, improving fertility rates and ovulation. * Lowers TSH and thyroid peroxidase antibodies in Hashimoto's hypothyroidism. Crucial for proper thyroid hormone synthesis. Drugs and Conditions that Deplete Inositol * Lithium * Seizure medications * Antibiotics * Possible depletion from coffee/caffeine Forms of Inositol * Myo-inositol - most abundant and preferred form in the body. Best for supplementation. * IP6 - also used effectively as a supplement * D-chiro-inositol - not typically recommended Dosing Considerations * The body normally makes 1-4 grams per day and consumes around 1 gram from the diet. * For general preventive supplementation, 1 gram per day. * For therapeutic purposes, 2-4 grams per day. Up to 18 grams for neurological/psychiatric issues. * Powder or capsules can be used. Gel caps have better absorption. * Always ideal to test levels first before routine supplementation. Intracellular testing can identify inositol deficiencies. Conclusion * In summary, inositol is an extremely important nutrient for optimal health that many people are likely deficient in. It has therapeutic benefits for a wide range of chronic medical conditions. * Supplementation is safe, effective, and should be considered if a deficiency is present. Testing levels first provides more definitive evidence. Inositol works best alongside a diet rich in foods that provide it naturally.

One thing I have found is just taking one ingredient isn't necessarily the whole key. Changing your diet to help minimize inflammatory responses as much as possible is also necessary. Taking in balanced nutritional supplements,which includes vitamins, minerals ,amino acids, and omegas along with the inositol will help greatly. We are not drug deficient. Food alone cannot supply enough nutrition. The soil is so depleted that their isn't enough nutrients for the plants to pull into it. World wide use of glycosates, also known as RoundUp, have killed the microbes in the soil that are needed to help the plants pull up the nutrients that are there. God bless Dr. Osborne for his educational videos. They are very beneficial, but how and what we eat is very important. Mushrooms are a wonderful source of inositol and helps in support of immunity as well. Make a multiple mushrooms soup and add wild rice, seaweed and such is a wonderful weekly dish that will help too. Good health to all.

Exactly. If someone doesn't drink but has a fatty liver, first thing to check is what you eat and not Inositol. If you eat excessive glucose and fructose in a form of sugary drinks, natural juices, starchy foods like chips, pizza, macs, bread and bakery then that's the culprit and not Inositol.

I started taking inositol to help with pcos to hopefully conceive. I take 4,000g a day. (Two 1,000g tablets twice a day) Two weeks in and my anxiety as almost disappeared. This is huge for me. My mood in general has improved dramatically. I've lost weight, sex life has improved, I want it more than my husband! I have more normal female reproductive function without going into too much detail. I'm excited to see if I can naturally conceive. I've been devastated by years of infertility. Inositol has motivated me to try a little harder. I do yoga now. I've cut back on soda with the goal of cutting it out. I love inositol. Big pharma is always gatekeeping what actually helps so they can make thousands off of your poor health. Take inositol, take coq10, take methyl folate. Take your daily multivitamin. I have Hashi's hypothyroidism, but it's not my TPO antibodies that are high, but my TgA. I have been on Synthroid for three years, am on a gluten-dairy-free diet, no soy, yet my TgA remain high. I am getting my regular thyroid tests (TSH, FT3, FT4) two days from now. After that I'm going to (one by one, each separated by a couple of weeks before adding the next) add selenium, inositol, then maybe try NAC again. I have poor tolerance for most supplements and last time I tried NAC it made me very sick. This time I will try it at 1/5th the normal starting dose. I think I should be able to handle 5g/1tsp of inositol daily, though. I am chronically exhausted with many hypothyroidism symptoms despite my thyroid levels being in that notorious "normal range", so I'm hopeful that inositol can improve my quality of life.

I cut out all grains a year ago when a DNA test show celiac as a potential problem. I am wondering if this IG A deficiency can cause malabsorption. I feel the mitochondria aren't getting enough nutrients so I supplement B vits and cofactors especially B1 TTFD. @lynnelson94239 ай бұрын
As I understand it tryptophan which is another amino acid can reduce your need for SSRI's as well as niacin and in some cases melatonin. Inositol seems to fix so many things that I would almost think that it would possibly reduce the dose that you would need also. It seems that thyroid dysregulation causes a lot of the symptoms that are treated with SSRIs So IMO monitoring would be advised. I would start low and see how it goes. These are just my observations. I am not a medical professional.

I notice you keep on saying things like "...and here again is where inositol could be a contributing factor." It would be helpful if you would clarify _how._ Is it that there's too much inositol? Is inositol the same for muscles tho???
@johannas.l.brushane25187 ай бұрын
@@joanneclark8256 I don't know for sure, but I would guess "not really". Why my guess is based on that inositol seem to be a type of secondary signalsubstance that is claimed to help to get glucose into the cells and improve circulation, maybe even more so if combined with choline which claim to support fat metabolism in the liver. The effect is said to be with insulinresistance as many pre diabetic has. I am not sure the effect is such that it would be of much efficiency for those who have developed diabetes, i.e. the group who typically are prescribed Metformin. I have neither seen reliable info that Inositol in itself would cause weightloss as have been shown many have with Metformin. But this could of course be because people like me, who was pre-diabetic, and don't want medication change their die and that would cause the weightloss? (Not sure how reliable the reports about Metformin causing weightloss is, a person who have been prescribed it may have made a few dietary changes as well that perhaps we're moderate but sufficient for losing a few kgs and their doctor reports it as sideeffect of the medication?).

DOES INOSITOL CAUSE HAIRLOSS?????
@teddybear40206 ай бұрын
my diabetic dr , has never said a word of myo isositol

I got palpitations after 2 weeks on Inositol. Stopped it for 2 weeks and felt better. Online search mentions side effects of palpitations and heart enlargement! Can you please check?? Inositol is same as phytic acid(anti nutrient)? So does it block body energy conversion in excess calorie consuming individuals??

what brand and form did you use? it could also decrease choline in the body, so maybe you are low in CDP choline?

The volume is lost on this video can't hear anything.Just trying to read what Dr Osborne is saying.😊
@maituub9 ай бұрын
No the volume is even more then the average of ( his) other spoken vids. So you need to put ON your sound system, then check if the volume is up 1/4 . Else check with an audiologist.

Meaning, one can not take it before testing to see if there is a deficiency?
@Fixyourfatigue Жыл бұрын
He was saying it’s best to test not guess so you aren’t treating the wrong thing or spending money you don’t have to spend however it is mostly a well tolerated supplement especially when taking the lower end of the dose spectrum so you don’t HAVE TO test

IMO, saying #resistant# is a foolish, misleading, choice of word/jargon---I suggest #insulin bloat#...the condition being too much insulin, while #resistant# is the provocation.

Thank you! And what’s the cause of insulin resistance? Too many carbs, high processed food too much sugar in the diet? What’s the difference between Inositol and berberine?
@maituub9 ай бұрын
@@HH-gv8mx Inositol is made in your body (normally ) Berberine is plant derived, and has a different field of action, you can not interchange them.
@HH-gv8mx9 ай бұрын
@@maituub both Berberine and Inositol are supposed to prevent blood sugar spikes. And may actually lower your blood sugar? I take both of them for different reasons I take the inositol to help sleep.

Is he saying narrow tube defect or neuro tube defect? And which tube specifically?
@GoingGreenMom Жыл бұрын
Neural tube defect..... if I remember correctly, basically it is where as the spinal column and nervous system develop they can be outside the body of the baby or they arent developed correctly so the baby's body cant function properly. My kids are almost adults, so I might be totally uninformed by now, but as I recall most babies with these defects don't live more than a few days....

Why the long 'woo, woo' music at beginning? So unnecessary for such excellent videos.

I started taking inositol for PCOS. Mainly for irregular period. After taking it my period came but it became way longer and I also getting heart palpitations. Don't know if I should stop it or lower my dosage.

How does inositol differ from Berberine?
@TheVipereagle Жыл бұрын
Take both. They both help with insulin resistance. They both have different benefits of reducing insulin. Berberine is great for heart health. Lots of studies done. My girl friend uses both plus a host of other supplements to fix PCOS, adrenal glands and nerve repair which all supplements work in conjunction with one another

@@TheVipereagle I take Berberine before I eat my largest meal of the day, which is dinner. And then I take.Inositol capsule to help me sleep. I was just worried about taking both with Willow my blood sugar too much. Is it OK to take Berberine long-term?
