Best course I’ve ever played. Absolutely spectacular

Great to see the improvements by drone. Really shows off the great job of updating an old charmer. Now it looks impressive. "...might be too good." Great episode, guys.

"An old charmer". When he said that I though he said Arnold Palmer. Then I was struck with this thought, maybe he did say "Arnold Palmer", which like the lemonade / iced tea blend called an Arnold Palmer, is too yet another euphemism for "an old charmer", meaning that his legend not only lives on, but is taking on a new life of its own, that ole charmer we love and know as Arnold Palmer.

I could watch The Sarge's swing on repeat. Truly a metronomic trigger pull. Great vid, can't wait to play this gem!

For what it's worth, the employees were amazing. So kind and excited to share their course with us. Tobacco Road we were herded around like cattle by a few dickhead rangers but places like SP and the other smaller local courses where you can get 18 holes for $50, they're truly glad to have you.

Hey Brad. Sorry to hear you didn't enioy Tobacco Road re: a few dickhead rangers. I'm trying to throw together a buddies golf trip in 2022. Targeting Mid Pines, Southern Pines, and Tobacco Road. Was Tobacco Road really bad or just maybe your group was there on a super busy day? Thanks, Matt
@bradbrux68073 жыл бұрын
@@sagemattp I think TR was hosting some type of a tournament that day. I get that they'd want to make sure everyone stays on time but they watched us hit multiple shots, almost like we were being babysat. The course was awesome and I definitely want to go back, but a few friends said they were turned off completely. I think we had an outlier experience but still, if they were that worries about timing for the tournament then they should've blocked off more tee times instead of squeezing guys in for extra $$$

@@sagemattp for what it’s worth, I’ve played TR three times and I have never even had one word exchanged with a ranger. Only seen them on the course once or twice. The course can get busy, and it’s definitely more than a 4 hour round, but I’ve had nothing but exceptional experiences every time I’ve been. Spring, Fall, doesn’t matter. It’s a must play.

Tobacco Road is must play, I live 30 minutes away so I've been lucky enough to play almost all of the courses in the area. Although I will say I played there a couple of weekends ago and one of the rangers was a massive ahole. Regardless still had a blast.

The last line of the video couldn’t be more true. The only thing they got wrong was “making it too good” and now it’s packed and slowly getting more expensive. This place gives me old course vibes. Somewhere you could play 100s of times and never play the same round twice. So good. If you’re confused on what the term “routing” actually means when it comes to a golf course you just have to walk this place once.

Haven’t played it since the changes were made but Pre-restoration it was my favorite course in the area. Early tee time on shoulder season meant you had the course pretty much to yourself and the nature was vibrant.

My brother-in-law (very good player & high golf IQ) played it not long ago and called it one his favorite courses ever.

I would just like to say that I drove the Par 4 11th with 3 wood. haha No big deal. One of the best courses I've ever played. Truly a great day with y'all Mr. Bob, Joe, and Cheetah; if y'all happen to see this.

The Big Guy is right, it is TOO good. I would even put it one very small notch above Mid Pines in its new form. It was a joy to play. Wouldn't have known about it except for Tourist Sauce. Even ran into Kelly Miller and Kyle Franz after the round in Oct to talk about the restoration. Cherry on top of one of my favourite golf rounds ever.

Played it and Mid Pines last weekend - Def enjoyed Southern Pines more as a 15 handicapper. Absolutely wonderful course. Might be the best in the area and better than #4.
@quantumpotential7639 Жыл бұрын
Wow, really? Better than #4?? That's saying a whole lot even though I haven't played the renovated 4 yet, but from all I hear about it, it's quite a lovely course. I live but a few miles from this Southern Pines. Maybe it's time to dust off the ole brassie and get back out there and see what this new Southern gentleman of a course is all about. Have you ever played Legacy Golf Course, but a few miles up the buggy trail? I hear marvelous things about that track too. I love hitting golf balls. I think I finally figured out this ole swing and how it's supposed to go. I study Hogan's swing here on KZbin and let me tell you, my swing has already improved tremendously just studying his. You have to let your lower body swing loose arms that remain more or less fixed to the body. Historically, coming in way too steep. My swing when it is off feels and looks like an ole fashioned steamed shovel, something they used to build the Hoover Dam with.

Ended up playing this last year in April for around $120. Place was a goat track that would warrant maybe $40. Left super disappointed and safe to say won't be back

its no longer the muni it was, almost $200 to play in the peak season now. shame that a course that everyone could access is now a course that costs almost as much as pinehurst no.8 or the same as tobacco road. hopefully locals get a hefty discount the way locals do in scotland/ireland

If you like a sandy scrub land with poor fairways for $175, go. It is no better than Aberdeen’s Deercroft which is $59 and has better fairways and character. If you really want beautiful and well manicured courses visit the golf in the North Carolina mountains.
