it runs all right on a quad core

A quad core cpu yes paired with a GPU that is at least a AMD HD6950 turbo as far as I know.

Reed Briggs I'm not very tech savvy, so I have no idea what any of that means tbh. Could it run on, say, a dell inspiron 5576?

yeah seams like a capable computer. try running it on lower graphical settings at first and see how it performs.

beam ng runs well enough on my older amd 3 core cpu and my now pretty welll outdated HD6950 Graphics card. on low graphical settings.
