Big shout out to Larry's towing service and their donating time and costs to this endeavor. Also , Thanks Dan and Jeremy for cleaning up the lakes and checking to see if anyone was in this. Cops were not interested . Too bad because someone could have accidentally been in it even if it wasn't reported as a missing person. If you can't do the job/time then don't hire yourself out as someone who protects and serves.

It kind of bothers me that if there is no crime associated with these vehicles, these counties just leave these vehicles in the water to rot. As Nug and the others keep proving, most of them take very little effort, time and money to get them out.

The problem is, they'd struggle to secure a prosecution on this one. If it was reported stolen, they could deny any involvement and claim the theives must have dumped it there. It would be hard to prove beyond all reasonable doubt they they specifically did it.

The owners are responsible for their vehicle. Equivalent to a parking fine, their car was found inappropriately placed in water. Therefore they need to be charged for towing and disposal and processing costs. Their initial infringement notice should be to the owners with an allowance for them to appeal the fine incase of genuine circumstances such as the hypothetical example: the car was stolen whilst they were a patient in hospital etc. Second point: Don't insurance companies need a report from the police to consider a claim. Surely with new evidence, it is befitting for the police to follow-up and amend initial reports with insurance companies.
