3 take-aways from watching this footage: 1. Bridges/Overpasses ice up faster and are far more treacherous than roadways. 2. Just because you have a 4X4, or an AWD vehicle it does NOT help you stop any better. 3. Almost all of these people were driving WAY too fast for conditions!

Remember folks 5:51 Just because you where able to avoid one accident does NOT mean you should risk flying across a freeway. I witnessed this same thing myself. Jeep owner was able to get himself out of the ditch but crossed both lanes of traffic nearly getting clipped by a semi. much worse fate.

Our last winter weather event everyone paid attention and stayed home in NWA. We were iced in for a week. Sure you would see a few cars out by mid week, but the first few days no one was on the road. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Ice doesn't care what car/truck you drive.

I would bet anything that 99% of the vehicles showen, in videos like these, have all-season or All-terrain tires on, insted of winter tires. Most people don't even have it cross their minds that EVERYTHING freezes at 32f/0c or below, this includes your tires. A/S and A/T tires are like plastic wheels on a matchbox car when below freezing. It all has to do with the type of rubber compunds the tires are made with. While this won't 100% save you, I think it would cut down on winter crashes by 50%+ if people actualy used them. Buy winter tires and increase you safty factor by 50%... Seems like a no-brainer to me.
