Bad music in 2021 is just the generic Direct-to-DVD animated sequel to 2020 that will be more of a "huh, that sucked" in the music's history books. Not bad enough to get purely angry at, not tolerable enough for an ironic listen.

I know I already said this in Rocked’s comment section, but Maroon 5’s Jordi is a lot worse than ADTR’s You’re Welcome in my opinion. It’s literally a musical black hole, songs that sound like nothing. That’s the only way I can describe it. These songs were all carefully calculated by Sellout Levine and a bunch of other old white guys sitting in a board room with a pie chart to appeal to as many soccer moms and third graders as possible. It doesn’t have a soul or an actual meaning, because that’s not marketable. Karens don’t want to hear something challenging or interesting, they just want background noise. And that’s exactly what Adam Levine and company give them. At least You’re Welcome is entertainingly bad, at least it’s interesting how badly they screwed it up. I’d take something shockingly bad over something overly safe and boring any day. I rambled a lot here. Anyways, great to have you back just in time for Christmas!

You forgot one key detail that makes it even EVEN worse: This is supposed to be an in memoriam album, dedicated to Jordan Feldstein, their late manager who passed away in 2017, and honestly it feels more like defiling his name to add this garbage of album a little more of significance, an excuse to say "this is why this exists, you can't critique this now."

I won't lie, OK Human has only grown on me in the past year. It wasn't really the novelty of "Weezer, but with strings" that did it for me (although I like how the strings sounded). It was the lyrical sentiments. Songs like Numbers and La Brea Tar Pits were both painfully relatable listens for me throughout the year. As corny and shitty as Rivers' writing can be, I can't help but respect his uniqueness. I never listened AFI before but the segment makes perfect sense. I am tired of fans begging for bands to get together when they’re not happy. My favorite band has been broken up for several years and the clamors are horrible for them to get together. The issue is that nobody is happy working together and it also involves extremely complex family drama that shouldn’t even be public. It’s like the people who make your music are humans too. Let them work through their issues and do what they gotta do. They also wanna do their own thing. People should never be pressured by fans. They should do what makes them happy. I hope they make up for their sake but I’m not demanding a tour. It can just strain relationships farther when you have to work with someone who makes it difficult on both sides. So yeah I really wish more people would accept that artists are human beings and sometimes don’t wanna continue band activities and care about the band’s passion and well being.

This is just another facet of FOMO, fear of missing out on something because you thought paying attention to something else than what interested you in that particular moment causes you to somehow fall behind culturally in some way. And that's just not how you're supposed to live life, not even as a critic. You don't *have* to be on top of everything and even attempting it is a Sisyphean folly. Small wonder you felt overwhelmed by it. Learn to not give a fuck about being the most current. I just got done playing a 17 year old video game. While both his first 2 albums were distributed by Reprise Records and Warner Bros Records, his latest 2 albums were actually independently distributed. I'm all for people being experimental but SOMEONE at the studio must've told him that these projects were gonna be beyond polarizing. Keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't the direction his music is going.

To add to your frustration of there being too much to keep up with, all but two of your honorable mentions had me go "Wait, they did something this year?"

Nofx and Offspring should retire ( Bad Religion, however, can keep on keepin’ on). Edit: Apparently, Nofx is gonna break up in 2023.

Hey Crash. I hope you're doing well. Have a happy holidays! What are your thoughts on that unauthorized TS live album (Clear Channel Stripped 2008) that was released this year? EDIT: sorry about the last part

We just hope your doing better. As my ex would say, bodies first. That includes mental health. Which in my opinion is the most important thing to get better. We would have waited longer because we love you and care about u so much, like u care about ur fans so much. It's so good to see u back. But know we can wait so u can get urself better.

Continuing the trend of the past few years, it looks like your worst of the year list is the officially designated time for shit to get real. I'm glad you took some time off to get the rest that you needed. I have also overworked myself to the point of near suicide, so I know just how important it is to take care of yourself before and when you get that point. I fully expect that you'll be doing away with reviewing new releases next year and, while I'll miss hearing your opinions on them, I understand if you can't do it anymore. You just do what you've got to do. I'll be here either way.

it's ok Crash. I only made a 60 album re-listen and review challenge for myself in december and i'm already falling behind on my schedule. without touring everybody and their mothers just chose to release a follow-up album in 2021.

Hey crash sorry if it was a tough year for you and other music KZbinrs. I do Look forward to seeing your best List Bro. Also I’m one of the few people who listened to AJR’s the click and Neotheater top to bottom. the fact that This band and Imagine Dragons are still making music, and Are still somewhat successful. That is musical tragedy. More AJR Than imagine dragons. At least those guys sucked after the first 2 records.

My album of the year made this list....That Viagra Boys album is my favorite 2021 album. :) Offspring too!

As someone who does like Imagine Dragons (Apart from Evolve and Origins. Those two are bad) and who has seen them live they do put on a great show and heck even sound better than in the studio. And as a huge A Day to Remember fan I was so disappointed cause they can do so much better. Even if there are a few tracks I do come back to on the album. I do hope they improve on the next one.

Wild seeing Jazz Welfare on a worst list considering how actually phenomenal and interesting it is. “Tune your instruments” might be funniest thing I’ve heard in relation to it.

Yes I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that placement was wierd! He didn't even talk about the sound of the album for most of it so I'm not actually sure what he disliked about it. He just ranted about crypto bros which I'm not entirely sure what that has to do with the record 🤷♂️

Viagra Boys: when I heard you describe their music, I said to myself "Damn, there's a chance i might actually like those guys !". I don't know, I have this uncanny attraction to stupid, simple dunderheaded rock. I might check them out. I'm not saying this to start any beef or stir up any controversy. It's just that sometimes, one man's garbage is another man's treasure !

Thanks for the video, Crash, I missed you, great to see you back. Can't disagree with much of your list. My top worst albums is: AJR-OK Orchestra, Chase Atlantic-Beauty in Death, Escape the Fate-Chemical Warfare, Drake-Certified Lover Boy, Lorde-Solar Power, Maroon V-Jordy, Oh the Horror-1692 10-Pop Evil-Versatile 9-Hippo Campus-Good Dog, Bad Dream 8-Fawn Limbs- Darwin Falls 7-Atreyu-Baptize 6-Iron Maiden- Senjutsu 5-The Offspring- Let the Bad Times Roll 4-Crusade- Rising Visionary 3-Icon for Hire- Amorphous 2-Waterpakrs- Greatest Hits 1-A Day to Remember- You’re Welcome Seems like almost everyone having You're Welcome as their least favorite album and honestly, deserved, it was such below what they actually can do. And as someone who considered this band to be his top 10 all time favorite band, that stings a lot

Ok dude...you had me up until Rising Visionary! Care to explain why you think its bad! Just curious dude
@alexddragame3 жыл бұрын
@@rockmovieswithtyler1989 Cause it's the worst BTBAM album ever made (and it's not even by BTBAM, lol). No sound of their own, plain production, no one can sing well in this band and growls are even worse and musically it's just not interesting. Especially in the year when BTBAM and Dream Theatre dropped new albums, I have no use for this wannabe project. Would be higher on my list if I had any expectations, but they already were pretty low considering that it's BTK band
@rockmovieswithtyler19893 жыл бұрын
@@alexddragame ok look dude it's not exactly bad but it's not exactly great either! I do see potential in this band being better since this is only their debut but so far Dragged Under looks to be the superior band in terms of KZbin Creator involved artists at the moment!
@rockmovieswithtyler19893 жыл бұрын
@@alexddragame also I wouldn't say BTBAM comes to mind when I hear this album though yes BTBAM MADE A SUPERIOR RECORD LATER IN THE YEAR FOR SURE HOLY FUCKING SHIT DUDE!!!

Your kinda right about the Viagra Boys album, I really like Post Punk, I saw that Melon gave it an 8/10 so I decided to give it a shot. It started out fine but then as it dragged on, it got obnoxious and boring, I ended up giving it a 4/10 in the end. I really hope Viagra Boys (and Pale Waves) redeem themselves this summer Edit: the new Viagra Boys album is great
