When the chemical brothers are so iconic they OWN part of a Moog
@jmoffitt36 Жыл бұрын
Great comparison and Jam. Both are great synths and at very reasonable prices. The Mother32 filter and envelope is all Moog sounds amazing on slow sweeps. I also really like the filter on the Crave especially when using external effects like Delay and stuff. I run my Crave though a Mooer Red Truck multi-FX pedal. It takes it to the next level. I mostly just dabble with synths as a hobby. I also have a Barp, Pro-1 and Model D and love them. If I was to get more Serious I would get the Moog collection. Still keep the Crave it plays really nice with the M32 and compliments it

They do both sound great . For the price of the mother you could buy 3 craves and run them together for all the oscillators ever hehe . Aside from winning a lottery I can't see myself ever justifying spending that much on a mono synth when there's some amazing ones for a fraction that on the market .
@robinweber96404 жыл бұрын
No the crave is 250 and the mother is listed at 600. Mother's went on sale for 500 recently and there's one on craigslist right now for $380 obo

@@robinweber9640 new vs used . still way more $$$. Synth-heads can tell the difference , on good speakers when it's the only thing playing . at a show , nobody's telling one from the other . if they are , they need to snap out of it and enjoy the music .

interesting, I guess some people would prefer the 3340 vco sound, due to them both using a 4 pole filter they sound very close. The neutron has the same vco as crave but uses a moffat filter instead. I think I prefer the craves raw sound to the neutron because of the filter. Nice to have options though. Not much point having a bunch of basic mono synths that sound identical. Also did this video get copyright flagged as chemical brothers? thats rough

Haha yeah i know. KZbin algorythm at work here, the filter sweep at 1:30 is the chemical brother part ^^

I did dispute the claim, but it came back the next day as: "nope, we still think you use our song". Next step would be to appeal, but then if they still dont want to hear me, youtube can remove the video, and then I have to go to court for this. But yeah it's really messed up that now there is an ad on my video, which is bothersome to the viewers, and of top of that some corporation makes money out of the viewers and me from the ad :/

ludotex yeah I totally understand why you’re handling it how you are, it makes sense when you’re dealing with a system that is so rigged against the little guy. Hence my union joke/kinda not joke haha. I hope you don’t have to deal with much more of this, and that KZbin gets a kick up the butt ASAP! Love your work mate, this comparison was great!

Crave has a Totally different VCO (CEM 3340 style used in Pro one and Roland synths) which sounds different but also very nice.

Well, Moog is Moog and the sound of the Mother32 sounds little bit more fat and warm. Better result of the cutoff game too. But I recognize, the Crave no sounds bad at all and for this so friendly price (x3.5 less expensive than the Mother32) then... Well done Behringer ! And thank you ! :) :) :)

The Crave isn't bad at all. The Moog has a bit more character to it. It sounds very nice. The Crave sounds fine. I wouldn't compare the two. But if I was limited on funds, I'd be happy with the Crave.

Idk i dont have a dfam, but i would say it should be good to go. Looks like the dfam has a few inputs that would accept the clock signal from the crave.

Had both. Mother sounds and feels way better. If I had to catch it in one word: Butter. Crave is way smaller and portable, plus is solidly build, however it's not Mother. Sound is similar but not the same soul. One word: Margarine. But it's way cheaper. Mother tastes better.

great comparison. I go for the crave :) Is there a chance to sync a pocket operator from teenage engineering with the crave? Does one of the patch outputs support that?
@ludotex5 жыл бұрын
You can use the assign output to sync the PO to the crave clock. That works. Syncing the crave to the PO is another story... i tried using the tempo input on the crave and feeding it the sync output of the PO but it didnt work. Maybe the sync of the PO is too low or too short or whatever.

The sequemcers are identical. Behringer copied the mother. But they added a arpegiattor button on the crave which is a good addition.

When it comes to patch possibilities, how does the Crave compare to the Mother?
@ludotex5 жыл бұрын
Same exact patch points. Mother 32 comes with 5 patch cables. Crave with 6. The layout of the Crave patch points is easier to read. On the Mother32 half of the times I patch the wrong hole because the label sits right in between two rows. But the top layout of the crave would not fit if it was mounted as a eurorack module.
