I just made my own crawlspace cover based on this video as inspiration. Thank you for showing the entire shingle part, I’ve never worked with them before but I did it perfectly because your video had so much detail!

Would like to see how to cut the angle of the 2 x 6 down to 3 1/2 inches

I just used a circular saw. Marked 3.5 on one edge then marked a line to the opposite corner and cut it

Older people can't lift these up when there covered in heavy wood and heavy roof shingles. Ever thought about leaving the supports of the door on the foundation top and just drop a hinged door over it so even a Grandma can pick it up and stick to keep it up.

I don't disagree with that

What is the metal that you put on the plywood before you applied the shingles?

I think they call it J channel

You mentioned painting the wood for extra protection - would that be 1 or 2 coats of paint? And do you paint the whole underside of it too, or just the sides and the parts touching dirt?
@mfwoodshop3 ай бұрын
The more you paint the better protection you’ll have. The bare minimum any that is exposed to the ground and the sun.

My goofy dog fell into our access area today. He's alright, but I certainly don't want to take that risk again!

is the back secured to the house at all?

No it just sits over the crawspace hole

@@mfwoodshop thanks. I have to do this project relatively soon and was curious.

That's a good idea to prevent vermin infestations. Without building out more roofing or having to destruct the roof if you had the screws under the roof, I would just use metal brackets on the backside to secure to the home.

No, not this time. Almost always someone in my family has a left over roll. Of coarse this time they didn't. I just didn't want to spend the extra $25. I know I'm cheap.
