I had to TORCH my Jeep! Things did not go as planned.

Well, I think it goes without saying that this was a long day in the shop. If you ever have plans to swap out some shackle bushings and end up beating on glowing red metal with a sledge hammer.... things have taken a turn.
This was a major progress day for the surfin' sahara and the high school jeep though. We now have about 3 weeks until TDS, and I think we're actually going to be ready! I'm waiting on some square nuts to arrive and then I'll mount my winch off camera, but that means that both CJs and the YJ have fresh front winch bumpers, so now we can check recovery off of our list for the Rubicon Trail!

I honestly thought that would have time to get all of my suspensions bushings replaced but after we had to heat and reshape that eyelet I just said screw it. The most worn out bushings got fixed and that was good enough for me. 🥵

There is nothing wrong with fluxcore, i wouldnt use a 110 welder with regular mig/gas to weld up frame stuff either. 220 volt welder with fluxcore and gas wire is what id use to make sureits got good penetration but everyones got an opinion😬. Nice to see some older jeeps getting some repairs and staying on the road👍🏻

Cut the H cross piece out of the front shackles, you will bind bad under travel with the curved lift springs .

The Jeep was in rough shape from flooding the motor and trans and I needed the money to finish building my house in late 2021 so I let it go to CarMax. I couldn’t live with the guilt of selling it to a private party because I didn’t know how much life it actually had left in it. 😂
