I loved this!!!!! The crayfish, well they were ok. Robbie, seen him a million time. Drop nets and bait, seen all that before... But the fact that a bloke wanders over and has never seen a cray, And you step aside and let him check the nets and hold a cray (which you could see made his day) well that's what it's all about.. and alone that speaks volumes about you mate. Loved it, well done!

Love the ingenuity to get your float back. Its so good that you got crays right in the middle of Wangaratta shows the system and laws are working. So good that you mentioned mens mental health issues as we loose six men a day from this unasked for, unwanted and misunderstood disease. It is a huge problem due to the pressures of life these days. Take a mate fishing and you will find they will relax and talk and open up. Being outdoors away from the grind and taking in the surrounds really does help, Great stuff Robbie for speaking up, Talk to your mates, listen and dont judge. Big thumbs up.

I plan on casting a line again when the weather warms up as here in SA the fishing is not as good as the eastern states. Mr 95 cm Cray does not know how lucky he is. The presence of the crays explains why the cod was in there. Feeding on younger crays and getting fat for spawning season :) Good on ya Mike Wally. That was great that you got to check out your first Murray Cray. They are awesome creatures.

Thanks mate. I find both yabbies and shrimp are easier to catch in the warmer weather.. I'm not sure what opera house net laws are in your state but here in Victoria they're fully illegal. Shrimp like water with decent levels of oxygen. Yabbies like stagnant water. I hooe this helps mate.

Hey buddy those nets are actually named drop nets in the south east United States (Charleston,south Carolina). We use them to catch blue crab. As soon as you move that string they go into fight or flight mode. If you put them a few feet apart and drop them from the side of that bridge there beside y’all I could only imagine you could catch more than you’d know what to do with. Good luck P.S. you’d still have to pull them kinda quick but not near like you do the way you’re doing now

Thanks Phoebe. It is because they are found in the Murray River catchment. The Murray River is the biggest river in Australia by volume. (Not by length). It divides the state's of Victoria (where I live) and New South Wales (where I don't live).

Aww take it easy on Mike, Murray crays are nonexistant in SA, We're used to Yabbies that tend to just hang around in the hoop nets and we don't need to just reef them in

@@robbiefishing Most people are. Not sure about the Murray Crays but I've never seen or even heard of people catching them here, everyone knows if you want some you have to go way upstream into Vic and NSW.
