Fun fact about this video that most people don't know. If you turn your volume all the way up, and listen very closely, you can just barely hear a group of pirates singing.
@Coldstreamer173 жыл бұрын
You mean a group of Policemen?
@bgeniij3 жыл бұрын
@@Coldstreamer17 No, there is actually a group of singing pirates sneaking towards the Major-General's household as the police are chanting. The pirates can be heard singing, but it's rather faint and could easily be mistaken for the sighing of the breeze, which is why it usually requires listening at high volumes to hear properly. Sometimes you can even see the pirates, although this is much harder than listening for them due to their almost preternatural stealth. There are some general tips for spotting them though. Try looking out for the distinct forward lunges often used by pirates when moving stealthily. This is often accompanied by foot stomping, mock sword swings, and rousing musical choruses sung as loudly as possible.

The "Never" "What, never?" "No, never" "What, NEVER???" "Well, hardly ever" from HMS Pinafore was memed exhaustively at the time. Some businesses tried banning it among their employees. Cue, "what, never?" Pinafore was memed and referenced so much that it's the one Gilbert picks for the Modern Major General, who can even "whistle all the airs of that infernal nonsense 'Pinafore.'" Among other variously unimpressive feats, most of which are less than enormously useful in contemporary warfare (excepting, of course, knowing what a commesariat is, many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse, and, most importantly, the best of which was being able to tell *at sight* a Mauser riffle from a javelin! Knowing Gerrard Dows and Zoffanies apart from Raphaels becomes immediately important while looting, however. No wonder he can afford to have so many beautiful unmarried daughters 😂)

I want a mod of this... once you reach level 100, you perform this in all of its stealthy, quiet glory xD

Kevin Kline is having a -lot- of fun. You can tell throughout the entire production.

+KrimzonFlygon1 I played my first Dishonored run and got low Chaos ending. On the other hand, this song perfectly describes my Warframe games.

This is the only G&S operetta written mostly in the USA in NYC during December of 1879 and there is even a plaque there commemorating it.

My school just got done with this musical. In our production the role of Samuel was changed to Sammantha (so a girl could play a part) and there were more girl pirates then there were boys. I go to an all girls school, but we invite guys to come do shows with us. Also in our production the Police were all played by girls but they had to act like men, except for the Sergeant, who we had played by a girl

I am currently doing a production of this show too, and the pirates are all played by boys, but the officers are all girls. I am an officer... But the officers are led by a guy. The shows are coming up soon and I'm super nervous...

I know I'm 5 years too late to address this, but...why on earth would you change Samuel to an actual girl instead of just crosscasting and having the girl play a boy? If nothing else, it completely messes up the storyline with Frederick and Ruth (and Mabel). Literally the whole point of the "Frederick-Ruth-Mabel" thing is that Frederick's never seen another woman except Ruth since he was 8 years old, until he sees the Major-General's daughters. I went to a school where we constantly had more girls than boys in the shows we did, and we just crosscast the girls so they'd play boys. In Oliver we had a girl playing the Artful Dodger, in Joseph most of the brothers were played by girls, in Wizard of Oz the Cowardly Lion was a girl too, and in Les Mis we had girls playing sailors and soldiers and fighters on the barricade.
