A lot of people don’t know how to recognize and handle genuine mental illness, unfortunately. Some of these videos are assholes and then there are the people like him that are clearly in a crisis and need medical intervention. That’s one I would’ve tried to talk down and if things still escalated I think that needed to be called in as a medical emergency. 😢 I lucked out, I guess, because when I worked in retail one of my colleagues was this absolutely unflappable dude who was interested in becoming a psychiatric nurse and he taught me how to handle (some) mentally ill people. And seriously, the first key is a matter-of-fact respect and even keel, even if the person is losing it.
