@@silverstar8868 ya & a lot of people buy them just to "own a truck" like trucks are great multipurpose vehicles but you don't see Ford, chevy, GM, or dodge building specialized flat beds like the one shown for the Kei truck. I understand why, because it's a reduced cost, not to mention they sell bedless heavy duty trucks (just not for f150s or 1500s). Ultimately id just like it to be an option from the factory even if it's a simple as having a bedless f150 / 1500 that allows for the aftermarket attachment of a multi function short sided flat bed.

For anyone wondering, this is a roofers truck. They make dump trailers that specifically do the same thing and have their own motors to be driven around job sites. You lift it up in the air to use as a dumpster when you strip shingles and slide them off the roof, then when you get to the dump, you just lift it as a dump truck

@@bootmii98 The Japanese already have Kei vans. They run off the same platforms as the trucks. It's just in the US our fuel emission standards went the whole kobra problem route.

@@bootmii98 They are not exempt. In fact, the standards make them bigger. The math they use includes the size of the vehicle, and it's basically impossible to get pickups of smaller sizes to the required fuel mileage with gasoline engines. They were able to save small SUVs with the crossover, but small trucks are dead. It's also why the modern "small truck" segment is the size of my F150 and the standard F series fits in the space 2 80's rangers use. The bigger the vehicle, the less the MPG requirement is.

Building enclosure in the back. And the 4 by 4 with some nice tires drive that thing down a path in the woods raise it up and you got yourself a nice hunting blind. Instead of an ladder stand that you need a buddy and a 4 by 4 quad to move. Just an idea and there are so many kool ideas of what to do with this thing

My dad got a Suzuki Carry dump truck from Japan. We owned it for a week and found a lever and when we pulled it and pushed the dump button, we learned that it also had a scissor lift. What an excellent surprise

@@Namanoh calling oversized pickups safe is insane. if they crash into a smaller car or pedestrian, they’re instantly dead. we don’t need bigger cars to make us safer, we need smaller ones. the big ones are what pose the highest risk. they’re also much more wasteful. how many pickup trucks do you see with an actual load in the bed or towing something? most just have one occupant and are used to commute 3 miles. not everyone is hauling loads or towing stuff everyday. pickup trucks are so inefficient for commuting it’s insane. you wonder why people say “why don’t kids play outside anymore” but then almost every car outside is an oversized pickup going twice the limit. “why are gas prices so high” meanwhile you’re in a literal tank, it’s insane. go up to the front of a modern pickup truck, see the hood be up to your shoulders and then tell me it’s safe. older ones were much more useful without all the luxurious features, having more room for loads and being smaller.

Kei trucks are awesome, they are illegal purely because of lack of safety features, but to be fair my american made f150 from 84 lacks a lot of safety features including a telescopic steering column. It should at least be legal for offroad/farm use because the chances for front end collision goes waay down when theres only 1 car out

I have one of these. The funny thing is that I had it for years before I found out it did that. The switch is the dump on mine and the bed lift is a remote unit on the side of the truck. We bought it from the university for 1500. Score.

The speeds and vast majority of larger vehicles found in America that have all been crash tested to determine a predicted outcome of survival in several theoretical crashes at our posted speed limits does not allow these types of vehicles to be driven on our roads as they have not been even crash tested or perhaps they have and the survival rate does not exceed even our minimum standards so he who drives one of these shall be the victim in a crash scenario but man they be handy around the homestead or farm until the popularity causes the prices to skyrocket to slow that roll even further. I personally have had the opportunity to buy three of these over the last 15 to 20 years and didnt because i imagined the parts would be hard to come by and i dont think any of the ones i looked at were more than 3500 bucks at the time and all were rusty and dented here and there, but wow the other day saw one like new with dump bed and snow plow with heat/ac 4x4 for 31000 bucks liked to passed out from shock.
