I had something similar but was never completely out. 7on7 football 2 hand touch, I ran into the safeties shoulder trying to catch a pass. I was on the ground for a few seconds got up woozie and went to the sideline and watched the next play. After what seemed like a few more seconds we were all of sudden playing a different team on the other side of the field. I lost about 30mins of time.

Playing baseball as kids, we had a big tree swing on the 3rd base willow tree. During kids intermission, I went to swing hanging from my arms, but instead fell directly down onto my side, my head slammed sideways down onto my shoulder. That sucked. I couldn't remember certain events that happened, like my center field 180° turn and reach for what would've been a homerun, robbed by me and my mitt. I definitely bounced my young brain around within my own skull that day.

@@n1troz_ this is a laughable comment. The sport may be new but fighting isn't. Countless of boxers ended up messed up from brain damage. I don't even need to name those old horse, when there are young boxers who did get there much sooner. Just take a look at Prichard Colon. When I say concussion is not a joke, he is a living example of that. What he ended up with happened to a lot of old boxers. He just got there faster.

@gt84853 жыл бұрын
It is an illusion. The first 3-4 seconds where he looks lucid are the illusion, he's actually already knocked out. What's happening here is the same thing that happens when you decapitate a rooster but they keep running around. His body keeps going through the trained responses (on a level approaching the autonomous nervous system) while his brain (the conscious, intentioned part of it is has already shut off) The only difference between this and Mazvidal's seemingly "lights out" knock out is that Burgos was already in a "holding / automatic pattern" of movement and Mazvidal was instead actively throwing when he got switched off, there was nothing "in the queue". You would have the same effect if a sprinter was knocked out in the midst of their autonomous heavy part of their movement vs right as they were trying to get off the starting grid.

Doctor, Do you suppose then that it would indeed (likely) have been those last two punches that knocked out Burgos? It was so weird, because Burgos went from being "perfectly fine" to completely unconscious, without having had a single strike land in the interim (aside arguably, from him hitting the canvas). I ask because -in my opinion- those two strikes didn't "appear" to land with enough force to KO Burgos. ie. Burgos had absorbed far worse already. My thoughts and questions then are: is it possible that the prior, "subconcussive" blows (maybe in combination with the pair of hard liver spinning kicks) could have resulted in something like a "Secondary Impact Syndrome?" Would you have any concerns (more than usual) about a stroke or aneurysm, or future increased susceptibility to brain damage?

Whats interesting is if watched from another angle, the EXACT moment he starts to black out is after he does a standard defensive head bob a couple seconds after the blows. After the head bob, his facial expression changes and he begins falling. That slight head bob either accelerated the inevitable, or was the razor thin straw that broke the highly-fractured camels back.
