@@bendierking6986 ya but how long could the overtime possibly take? Under 10% of overtime games end in ties. That means that 1% of overtime games would go past two overtimes which is about a once every few years thing. Going past 3 is something that could be considered a once in a lifetime thing

My two favorite "longest game ever" moments are that in early 1939 (right before the Germans finished annexing Czechoslovakia and Franco began the end of the Spanish Civil War), South Africa and England played a test cricket match, a game that usually takes 3 to 5 days of about 8 hours play (with sunday as a rest day as was custom at the time), but in the rules of the time, didn't have to end before an actual win/loss if neither team desired it. They started on the Friday 3rd of March, continued on Saturday the 4th, rested on Sunday, then played Monday through to Friday, had Saturday rained out entirely, rested again on Sunday the 12th, and played Monday the 13th and on Tuesday the 14th, but late in the day it began to rain, stopping the game when it was probably less than an hour away from one side winning (England were only 42 runs away with half their team remaining to bat). But this was 1939, and transportation was not particularly easy to arrange. England had to be on a train at 8pm in order for them to reach the ship that they were booked to return home for. So after 9 days of actual play, 1 day washed out and two rest days the longest game in the history of high level cricket ended in a draw, and they changed the rules and limited the amount of time a game could last. The other is in the Australian football league (soccer) where Central Coast and Perth played the Coast's traditional New Year's Eve match on 31 Dec 2018, where they have a lot of families come out to watch the game and then the local government has a fireworks show at 9pm after the game. 10 minutes into the game a player trying to score a goal fell into the net and it snapped a goal-post causing a 45+ minute delay, which saw the game take so long that part of the way through the 2nd half the fireworks began. There was also a child who got in with a realistic looking but plastic toy sniper rifle who got on TV, a guy on crutches with a broken leg who did a pitch invasion and a commentator who didn't realise he was live and called the home team "dogshit" while the play-by-play commentator was doing his first ever top level game. It was great.

I don't believe it was televised, but a Fresno State vs San Diego State baseball game went 22 innings (lasted 7 hours and 12 minutes WITHOUT COMMERCIAL BREAKS) in 2011. Went so long the lights inside commentator's box burnt out. Aaron Judge and Kris Bryant (Fresno State and SDSU, respectively) were both on the field at the time and were both freshmen.

The FA Cup used to replay matches in the event of a draw - theoretically infinitely. A 1980 semi-final between Liverpool and Arsenal took place over 4 games, and a tie in 1971 between Alvechurch and Oxford City went on for 6 games.

The one I remember was the Colorado Avalanche and Florida Panthers, game 4 of the Stanley Cup back in 1996. I thought I had missed the game, tuned in on the radio to find out who had won and they were just starting the third overtime. That one stands out because Krupp's goal to win the game for the Avalanche was the ONLY goal scored in the game. Roy and Vanbiesbrouck made 118 saves between them before somebody finally scored.

I watched a 3 OT basketball game between UAB and Middle Tennessee during the Cusa semifinals. Omg, my dad and I almost jumped a hole into the floor because we were so glad UAB won. Hurricanes vs Panthers, Game 1 of Eastern Conference Semifinals last month. After 3 periods it was tied, and they went through 4 overtimes before the Panthers finally won 3-2. I watched the 3 periods of regulation then the first 3 overtimes before going to bed. It ended at 2 am and was the 6th longest NHL game ever

Without looking at the video first, here is what I would put here: 1972 USA vs USSR men's basketball Isner / Mahut with the final game being 78-76 or something like that where neither one could break serve. This was crazy. Raiders / Chargers? I know Justin Herbert's team lost at the end. Texas A&M / LSU - 7 OTs. (NCAA football) Syracuse / UConn - 6 OTs (NCAA basketball) I remember some minor league baseball game going 33 innings? Can't remember the details.

For the NBA, just out of Curiousty, the longest Ever game went 78 Minutes, which equaled to 6 Overtimes, this happened way back in 1951. For MLB, longest was, 33 innings, and lasted almost 8 and a half hours, NHL, 116:30 or 6 overtimes.....

Start at 4:25 as it will lead into the NFL game. I don't think it's ever happened, and it will only ever happen in the NFL Playoffs due to the fact that there can be ties in the NFL Regular Season after 1 overtime period is expired. If the Panthers and Rams had completed Overtime #2, would there have been a break in the locker rooms like their is after the 2nd Quarter for Halftime? It literally would have been a game and a half played at that point had the 2nd Overtime expired.
