Thanks for the video! It is bringing back many great memories from my teen years! I remember a cave in Kentucky or Tennessee that had a fall like at 9:30 and it went up and down a vertical shaft that looked to have no beginning or end. Sadly, I lost all of my photographs of the entire summer I spent spelunking those two states with a friend... Some of the caves were very hard to get permission to get to, let alone enter, but my friend was related to many of the people who owned the land. My ears sound like the audio when the mic got wet, and it takes effort to get the water out. It is hard to believe that such large areas hide under little holes in the ground, and if you fall in, it's a long way down!

@@CiscoWes While that cave is a huge explore, it is best with a crew working to find more of the cave system. But the caves I like, back then, were the out of the way, private caves not built up for the public. However, at my age, I can't do what I used to do!

The most amazing thing about this video is the guy filming is reacting to something he has seemingly already reacted to off camera. "Hey check out this CRAZY 220 foot hole!" "It's opening up! This is wild!" "Wow look at this! Look at that!" *Get to the bottom of the hole* "This tight squeeze was dry the last time we came down here." Also the hammered in bolt of a previous caver at 1:33 This reminds me of those fake video game ads you see on YT. "Hey check it out! This is the game! I am actually playing this game! Wow! Not fake!" Not hating really, simply pointing out you broke the amazement/exploration illusion to viewer. If you've been down there before, tell the viewer. Tell us some interesting things you found last time you went down there. Let us react on our own. If you haven't been down there before, then let the viewer react with you. To share in that feeling of exploration.

Insane, that thumbnail looks a lot like a hole I found while working on Admiralty island in Alaska. It was in the spring when snow was still on the ground, and all around the hole the ground was green with moss and free of snow from warm air escaping the hole. Me and a buddy returned that weekend with some rope. It didn't open up nearly as wide as this one seems to, but then again we didn't have the proper gear to climb down inside it very deep. Very cool pictures! Also, 15:18

Daaaaang lads, that's a helluva pit indeed. And like, immediately, too. Alot of the time it seems like the entrance passages of alot of caves consist of mostly mundane features, such as stream passages, breakdown piles, etc. that persist for at least a little while before you get to see any truly spectacular or otherwise significant formations or unusual features of whatever kind, but here its like, _immediately_ phenomenal. Some of those formations down in the lower parts of that pit are extremely psychedelic, too... especially with (and at times, specifically because of) the presence and flow of all that excess water running over them. I mean, speleothems are almost always farly psychedelic to some extent, honestly, but with the qualities of dynamic motion that come with the addition of running water in addition to the geological components, that really conjures up quite the visual spectacle. Gosh, guys, ain't nature just grand sometimes?

This is absolutely crazy! The cave is so beautiful and cool. A couple of questions: Do you mind explaining what gear you're using to self belay? (Not looking to recreate this or anything, I'm just a curious rock climber!) Were you at all worried about the rope breaking or failing, since there was no backup rope? And in what part of the world did these caves form?
@ActionAdventureTwins11 ай бұрын
A j frame 6 bar rappel rack with full solid bars is what we used to get down into the pit. We were definitely a little worried about the rope rubbing on a few of those spots and snapping but it was a new rope and we didn't notice any damage to it coming back up

We just wore jackets into the cave, it wasn't really that cold unless you were in the waterfall, some water does fall on you coming back up the rope but it wasn't enough to make us cold since we were having to pull up our body weight for the climb.
