Crazy CHEAP Camera But AMAZING Quality ? (Canon PowerShot Sx510 Hs)

This is still one of the best (reliable) cameras I have for video production. Even in 2023, the Lens is one of the first things to look. Canon did an amazing job in retaining the size, the only Ask would have been for more manual settings but can't have everything. Instead of packing huge equipment (or at the other end, iPhone which has its own limitations), this is a nice piece for supplemental to primary, or B-roll, footage. It has Wifi transfer capabilities and whenever possible I use external mic (later synch in post-production), just shop any of the Zoom products out there. As @focalfronts review indicates, one of the limitations is no swing-out monitor for Vlogging, however there are DIY hacks (attach mirror assembly using tripod mounts) and you can fashion a primitive setup to do selfies in tight situations. Portability is definitely a major plus of this camera.

There is a telephoto lens for it for about $100 from canon. The only other camera that compared to this was one of the Olympus cameras at that time. This was the best simple small camera with the most zoom available with big screen.

Hey I have had this camera for years literally since like 2014 lol! I just pulled it out again because I am trying to use what I have and not buy anything new… I’m looking to take photos (portraits) of my self for my website. Do you think I can get some professional or semi decent quality photos with this camera? If so do you have any suggestions on setting I should use.. I’ll be indoors and hopefully using natural light. Any suggestions will help. Great video!

Honestly the best advice I can give is if your shooting indoors you have control over all the light ! Get it perfectly lit and work on your composition skills and I swear you can pull some really great quality images out . I currently use a 8 year old camera and I run my own photography business! I’ve had this camera since forever I got it as a gift from my parents a while back. I use to use it for pictures. I just started tinkering with it again. I’m thinking of getting into KZbin for beauty/ vlogging. Any tips for getting the best out of this camera ?

I definitely think this camera would suit you perfectly. Its super grab and go! All you really have to do is change the camera settings to 1920x1080 For the best quality results and have a nice lighting setup. The quality is more then good and the audio is not half bad! If you would like I can make another video talking about the best "Vlogging Settings" For this camera

My suggestion would be to run a separate quality Audio Recorder like the Zoom H5 (or higher), even the Zoom H1. When you shoot, just use something equivalent to a clap-board. Film and snap your fingers or clap your hands and later in Post Production, just synch your work. It will make a 1000% difference (between Pro vs. Amateur). The key is that as simple as the Canon SX510 internal mic is, it still serves as a useful bookmark and that's all you need to produce quality audio with external mic synched.

got my hands on one of these for a few buck no charger but the battery has enough power for me to know it comes on and works properly gonna have to get a charger off of amazon or ebay.

Never too late ! I personally love the vibrant and saturated colors the canon powershot gives off ! All up to you but I do have my bet on the canon !
