Recently decided I’m going to take my collection in a direction away from AliExpress watches, but I think I will stick with them for cheap straps

The biggest issue with Chinese straps is for those with scrawny wrists they are always way too long, they don't seem to believe in selling a shorter length.

I bought several of the curved rubber straps (#6) at 20mm and 22mm, and they are excellent! They are the only straps I use if I cannot source a good stainless steel bracelet. At under $10, I recommend.

I've already bought a few of #8 before seeing this. Yes, the buckle is massive, but the strap itself is nice, so I just used a bench grinder to grind down the buckles to a normal size. It takes some time and I'm not sure it's worth it for a $2 strap but I did it.

I have a nylon 2-piece like #2. Admittedly, it's stiff but comfortable. It doesn't taper so it works beautifully with distributing the weight of the watch. You'd think it wouldn't work with diver style watches because it's thin but it actually works well. You should try it with the SN045 😉

I've looked a bit yesterday for clasps and there are a few, my favorite being the one that keeps the excess strap on the inside. It's about $7-$10 but seems much easier to use than the ones that keep the strap on the outside and might be more comfy too since the clasp remains in between the 2 straps and doesn't touch your skin..

I love the way you just opened them and threw them in a pile like a kid at Christmas 😂 . The pre-curved fkm rubber straps are really good, but I didn't like the buckle on mine.

I agree about the buckle. I have the same red one that Gary showed here. Even though it's good in terms of quality and finish, I feel like it sticks out instead of sitting flush on the strap when I'm wearing it.

@@R023N I have modified my buckle by filing underneath and bending it in a vice before refinishing! It is much better now but a lot of work!

I do like silicone but they attract more dust than your average vacuum cleaner. Nylon or proper rubber "tripoc" are the way.

The rubber looking ones that aren't as nice as rubber are usually polyurethane. Not a great material to make anything, to be honest, watch straps made of PU tend to crack after a while. Cheap though. ALso, those FKM tropics from Aliexpress are actually really good for 8 quid.

I actually just got one of the #1 perlons a couple days ago. It's not bad, but not very good either. The good: it's cheap, it's a perlon (I like perlons), and has lots of colors and widths. The bad: It is pretty thick and course for a perlon, a lil itchy, and looks a bit cheap. Gonna try to run it through the laundry though. It was under $2 with coupon, so I can't really say I'm disappointed, I won't trash it, but I doubt I'll wear it much. If you are curious and want something to "mix it up" go ahead, but I wouldn't plan on making it a daily thing.

Hi Gary do you have any experience with straps for fixed lugs? I've been looking at a website in Germany which sell them, but I can't make out if the straps go through the fixed lugs and are then glued, or if there is some sort of springy metal in the end of the strap, so you can just hook it on thanks ...stay safe

IMHO that last one is the uggliest by far, can't stand that kind of strap. Its popularity must have increased a lot after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
