The Duck playing the grob is always a pleasure ;) I would love to see him play something else btw, something actually.... good haha! I know he is letting an advantage to the others and i respect that gentleman attitude, but still ! Oh and also, Dave should really look at the theory, only 10min and he would learn a LOT... Playing against the Grob is really easy (at least at the beginning), The Duck doesn"t even go full grob (with c4), he plays a quite weak variation, at least at the beginning, before pushing e4 and f4 ...) Oh, and the Duck made little blunders after little blunders, not taking the pawn with Kg2 was a mistake, he check and let Dave protecting it with Bc6 !?

9:14 wow what a blunder. Be8 and its game over. Get king to kingside kill pawns and make sure you dont allow a fortress on the queenside or trade pawns. Its harder when you play it IRL against a master with time trouble but that should be automatic at Dave's strength. Edit: After watching the analysis, actually h6 is a stronger move. It separates the connected passed pawns and blocks one while covering queening square. Plus the added bonus of not trading kingside pawns. Thats a wrap!

is it a modified grob though? in a classic grob, after the G4 then bishop G2, doesn't the queen's bishop's pawn then go forward?... or, is 'grob' simply the first move -- the G4 opening?

@TheNomniz5 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about Rh4 aswell, couldnt find something for black
@matthewviramontes31315 жыл бұрын
1. ...Rh4 2. Qe6+ Bd7 3. Qe7 and now White's threatening the Rook, and Black g pawn is no longer guarded. If 1. ...Rh4 2. Qe6+ Kb8 3. Qd6+ forks the Rook... If 1. ....Rh4 2. Qe6+ Kd8 3. Rd1+ Kc7 4. Qe7+ and one again forks the Rook. Dave's line was best, but at the end he should have just pushed the pawn like the narrator said.
