I assume the Jaffer comes originally from the piece of popular orange flavoured coated confectionery that young people used to roll down the steps at Cinemas in the 50''s and 60's when the lights were out. It later somehow got linked to an almost unplayable ball bowled in cricket and has been around for years even though I am not even sure you are still able to buy the confectionery.

1. A jaffa is a delivery that is impossible to keep out. Might be related somehow to the orange sweet called a jaffa ball. 2. The bails can come off by themselves in windy conditions. The umpires might put in "heavy bails" that can't be blown off. 3. My craziest cricket moment was a game in the early 90s between West Indies and England. A West Indian bowler pulled his hamstring as he was running in. But he still ran a mile to the other end of the pitch, caught the ball and got the wicket, before collapsing in a heap. He was done and had to be stretchered off. The batsman out was Ian Botham.

Jaffa - a great ball, unplayable. Also, Jaffa is a chocolate ball coated in an orange coloured candy shell. The bowler's end run out was not out - the third umpire hit the wrong button.=, and had to correct it.
