Mango Park Police Captain James Porter is taking a citizen on a ride today. The concerned resident, Roberta, is excited for the opportunity and hopeful she can help the police department clean up the community. After patrolling the neighborhood, Captain Porter stops for some coffee. Roberta decides to stay in the squad car and wait. Suddenly she sees a man exiting the building with two large suitcases. Immediately, Roberta goes full on Crazy Karen mode, assumes the young man is up to no good, and falsely arrests him.

I've actually done a ride along before with the Daphne, Alabama Police Department. The only call me and the officer went on was for a house fire but I did stay in the car the whole time. And here's the real truth about ride alongs, they actually don't allow them unless they have a program that offers them. In Baldwin County, Alabama, the Gulf Shores Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office allows ride alongs through their Citizens Police Academy. The reason I still got to do a ride along with Daphne PD was because I have Autism and other mental health disorders and the Daphne PD actually supports Autism Awareness.
