We continue our Romania-Transylvania trip. Today we are in the town of Viscri. As we said before about the Saxons, they build the Church on the highest place in the village. Here, too, this tradition has not been broken. We visit the church called the white church. The church is surrounded by very large walls. They turned it into a natural fortress. War towers were built. Of course they use this place in case of war.
After the Saxons left, gypsies settled in the village. You can watch our previous videos about why the Saxons were separated. Of course, gypsies do not have as much money, education, agricultural knowledge, etc. as German Saxons. For this reason, schools were built here by King Charles. Trainings are given. It is funded by associations. So why? King Charles is the biggest fan of this place. At the same time, this place is very rich in terms of agricultural lands. Biodiversity is highest in Europe. This, I think, caught the attention of the British.
As for the White Church, it was actually built by the Sekel Turks before the Mongol invasion. But when the Tatars pushed the Szekels to the south, the Saxons restructured the church and turned it into a fortress. The walls were built to defend against the Ottomans.
Our Next Stop is Braşov:
Braşov is a Transylvanian city built with gothic architecture in the easternmost of Europe. The Black Church, the largest gothic church in Romania, is located here. In addition, the town hall here has been used since the Middle Ages. It is now a museum.
Actually, this city is a ski resort, but the city center attracts just as many tourists. Also in a hostel, as in the title, there is an interesting memory of Hungarian King Matthias.
We are in Braşov Transylvania Romania under the sponsorship of Fatih Koparan Just English Language Schools (www.justenglishtr.com).
