@daredonkey2 жыл бұрын
Acclimation is an interesting subject.. much of the information we find as hobbyists are outdated. I still do a quick acclimation for all corals followed by dipping but have learned that it may not be nearly as important as I originally learned it to be. Inverts are most sensitive to a change in water

Quick question guys-does anyone dip these coral shipments before you put them in your systems? If not, why not?
@daredonkey2 жыл бұрын
With a company like fragbox, they can't guarantee pest free corals since they get them straight from Australia or Indonesia. I always dip my corals and have prevented euphyllia flatworms that were on a gold indo torch. I absolutely don't blame fragbox for sending a coral with pests. Truthfully, it is the hobbyist's job to dip and/or quarantine their corals before adding them to their own displays. We are fortunate to have a company like fragbox who orders from wholesalers on the other side of the planet. Dipping and ensuring pest free corals is a tough job, and I would expect to pay much more for corals that are put through a quarantine+dipping process. On top of everything I have said, there is never a guarantee for pest free corals from any shop
@Harolddespui2 жыл бұрын
I don't think they dip them, because the corals are already stressed out being 2 or 3 days in a bag, dipping would probably kill a lot of them.
@MW-ut3dk2 жыл бұрын
@@Harolddespui Reason why I ask is places like WWC or Topshelf will qt any wild stock and put them through multiple dip cycles to make sure they don’t contaminate their farm system. Can’t afford to infect their brood stock which is there main source of frags and livelihood.
@Harolddespui2 жыл бұрын
@@MW-ut3dk Smaller stores don't have the facilities to do that i guess, and it also keeps the prices low. Quarantaining costs money.
