This is how a true car guy reacts. Excitement, laughter, all smiles, and only slightly worried about cops, nothing else.

I met Petter Solberg in Jönköping at Motor Elmia about 6 years ago. I have his autograph in the glove compartment of my modded Volvo 740 GL from 1987. I love to drift with it and make all the Epa-tractor boys go: "WTF was that?" when I pass them. An I4 with a turbo coming from a 16L Scania V8 and straight pipes. it sounds sooooo good. It's almost as if I get an erection every morning when I'm on my way to school.

Mt Grandad had a 2.0 litre Ford Capri when he was 72 and had been driving since he was 12 years old, it was his last car before having to give up driving, he still went waaay too fast but loved it all the same. He'd driven 40tonne vehicles, tanks, fuel bowsers and bombs to the airfields in WWII so had a license to drive pretty much anything on wheels. he was a funeral car driver for a while too..lol Gave me some of the best advice when I first started driving. It's not outright driving at speed that kills, it's driving at the wrong speed in the wrong conditions and not looking out for those around you that does. I'm an advanced motorist but mainly I cycle to get to most places, the amount of selfish and frankly lunatic dangerous driving I see daily is shocking, it's no surprise that the death toll due to errant motorists is 1.5million worldwide (possibly as high as 2million...every year!!)

I appreciate that its Petter, but that chopped up edited parking lot driving video section was just lame. Every fwd youngster does that in Canada in the winter, maybe not so close to cars, but i thought they would get the car on the road and open it up a bit at least. Stay gold.
@ImperatorClass8 жыл бұрын
Except I would probably say they had permission to use the parking lot, whereas the roads would have gotten them in trouble.
@ollo19828 жыл бұрын
You just saying that because its not a canadian driving on a parkinglot in Canada... IF they did this out on the road,Peter Solberg would have lost his license,if they took it over limit from where you lose thew license.. And these guys wouldnt be afraid at 116 km per hour in this car,so he would push it harder.. They would NEVER get an approval from the police in norway to take this out on the roads... Traffic rules are extremely strict here in Norway! In 80 km/h zone you lose your license at 116.1 km/h. 90 limit zone its 126.1 and you lose your license. 100 limit its 142.1km/h and you lose your license and 152.1km/h in a 110 zone. Lower under 80km/h limit. I was pulled over by unmarked police and they clocked me to 132.6 in a 80km/h limit,and lost my license for 8 months. So no,a parkinglot where they had permission to do this was the only way! Doing burnouts and drifting in the parkinglots in Norway without permission,and police catch you,you are without your license from 3 weeks to 3 months depending on how bad it was.

While I highly respect Peter Solberg himself, the driving was rather disappointing with all that spinning out. As some suggested, they didn't really need Peter for that prank, as any more or less skilled driver could do donuts and even without spinning out. I don't think Peter is that bad at doing them, just looks like he either doesn't care, or tries to be more "realistic" with the role.
@wowgt936 жыл бұрын
the point was to scare them. not impress them. if he pulled some sick shit right off the bat they would for sure know that he knows what he is doing. that wouldnt scare them that much.

I didn't say his identity was left unrevealed, did I? My point was, if you are making a prank show with a rally champion like Peter Solberg, it's a huge waste if you won't let the driver show his full potential in the end, even if the targets of the prank know very well what he's capable of.
