A very long time ago, I worked on a small town PD. Some of the fellows who were on the force were not all that bright, and had been on the force so long to preclude the mandatory licensing that was in effect when I started police work in the state back in 1978. At any rate one fellow, who, as I say was not all that bright, shot and killed a skunk with the 12 gauge riot gun, then to find out if the skunk was rabid, he put it in a garbage bag and placed it in the trunk atop the spare tire. Now he didn't bother telling the next shift, who drove the other police car, so the skunk remained for 3 days before anyone opened the fire hall door where we stored the spare car and was hit by that horrid smell. This was in August, and the heat was unbearable, making the skunk decompose, adding to the smell. Well the fellow who found it removed the skunk and put it in a dumpster behind the Super Value store (Like I said these guys were not the brightest cops in North Dakota. Well then he noticed that when he tried to drive that car, the stink was so horrid that he threw up, again in the damn car! Then he called me, for some damn reason, hell I didn't have any rank in that PD then, just happened to be friends with the cop. So we looked the situation over, and decided to call the fellow who ran a steam cleaning business in town, who, by the way, was an x-cop. He came over and brought a very large OZONE machine. After scrubbing out the trunk, and disposing of the spare tire, he steam cleaned the carpet of the front seat and the seat to clean up the vomit, then placed the machine in the front seat and let it run for 3 days. That car was clear of the smells and we used it for another 3 years as a back up squad car, we only got rid of it because the idiot who had the skunk experience stopped at home to take a dump, leaving the car running (it was 20 below zero F) and the doors unlocked. While he was there, some unknown subject got in the car and drove it out of town, down the highway some four miles to a railroad crossing, where he parked it, and turned off all the lights. Burlington Northern found the car about a half hour later, as the rest of us were scouring the town for the missing car. The sound of that crash woke up most of the small town and people came outside from their homes in the sub zero weather to see the fire of that squad car as she burned to cinders on those railroad tracks. Ah memories. Oh the fellow lost his job over that one.

+Jerry Ericsson that's a great story, would make for a good movie! 😂 Was the 'leaving engine running' against protocol? Sounds like something to get chewed out over?

That soldering was much harder than it had to be. The part you solder disconnects from the ozone plate, thus greatly reducing the mass that could absorb heat from the gun.

HI, I know this video was 7 yrs ago, but just a reminder that too much exposure of Ozone is very harmful to the lungs!! Ozone is a gas that can be harmful to human health when inhaled. According to the CDC1 and the EPA2, exposure to ozone may cause respiratory problems such as coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath, chest pain, inflammation and damage of the airways, and increased risk of infection. So at first its ok for a short period of time, but not too long. But Ozone can be used to sterilize air and its recommended when its unoccupied
@erickeith14668 жыл бұрын
Wow...this was a little dramatic. The voltage is high but the current is very low. I'm not saying to touch it (still very shocking), but all things being equal, a typically T8 fluorescent ballast is just as "dangerous". The ceramic plate as far as ozone generating goes is quite a bit better than the plate-glass/metal mesh that was used in the past. Also, DIY guys used to use neon sign ballasts for the voltage and current control. In the end, you didn't know what to expect as far as performance and output.

I installed one of these in the air intake of my Jeep for a nice boost in power. Ozone is pure oxygen with an extra atom, which added to combustion makes for a better burn.
@buatt6 жыл бұрын
It's only a recombination of the oxygen already existing in the air. No more oxygen is added from the device. Are you sure it can produce a boost? Did you measure it? How many HP/NM?
@mikewalsh5116 жыл бұрын
Never implied the device manufactures oxygen, however with o3 as a radical and unstable it will bond nicely to fuel components once injected. Output of the gen is something like 600gph I think. I also tapped the distributor cap on the jeep for additional ozone. I didn't dyno anything. I don't have sophisticated test gear. All I can say is try it yourself and see if you feel a difference.
@iflnr9785 жыл бұрын
@@mikewalsh511 i love these tips and trix. forgive my ignorance: i'd like to understand what the electrical distributer and O3 in relation to the distributer has to do with a performance increase. i am trying to follow what you mean by tapping the distributer cap, do you mean you drilled a hole and put threads in that hole? presumably to connect a pipe to supply O3 to the inside of the distributer? i am trying not to laugh and i must totally misunderstand everything in your post. i cannot envision an O3 generator that makes 600gph, and if it does, that is a small fraction of the gph of air a car must use. i don't see how such a small amount of O3 could make any difference, anyhow, i'd like to try it, as you suggest. is the small unit that is made in this video what is making 600gph? thanks for taking the time for the original post, this is all stuff that i would never have thought of
@mikewalsh5115 жыл бұрын
@@iflnr978 Yes, I tapped the vent on the distributor with some tubing and routed to the intake. This will also help the distributor last longer and be free of oxidation. Ozone capture isnt much but you don't need much to have an effect on the OH radical process in the burn, and enhance the burn.
@iflnr9785 жыл бұрын
mike walsh I would have thought O3 would increase oxidation. After all, it’s like super O2? I would have thought any gas except O2 and O3 would decrease oxidation. Maybe if it’s flowing through. Do you have an outlet from the distributor to the intake manifold?

@@backofficeshow I think you did a great job here mate as it connects it from the ground up (pardon the pun) and you get to see the innards of the control unit (helps curiosity!). Ive got a unit that has 10g output and im converting it to 30g. (yes I know thats insane but I like to be able to run this stuff as a commercial option although I have the UV lamp version as well designed for waste compactors.) The output is a fair bit on that too but in fact less than these chinese plate ones. You have to gently clean them of oxidation now and then with a knife blade to restore them as most people think they dont last but in fact they can last a while As its not really taking much juice i believe I can use WAKO connectors to simply wire it all up. I have also bought three bearing 240 fans to circulate as that level of Ozone will require a decent flow output. Its all contained in a large alloy venting box so could be used as part of an intake. Some people add timers but I think I might go one further and use a wifi one so I can be WAY away from this thing when its made. Half life for 03 worth doing your research from as its not good breathing that stuff in as it quickly irritates membranes in your lungs. Im sure you knew all that though. @picapica88065 жыл бұрын
Don't need anymore febreeze or odor maskers if you get rid of the odor in the first place, also useful for eliminiating mold and mildew from damp rooms/ basements. ozone does smell nice, it melts the linings of your lungs but you would rather have your lungs linings melt than catch deadly pneumonia from a mold infection.
@Now_lets_get_this_straight4 жыл бұрын
You can use it for medical but you would buy a ozone and oxygen generator for that purpose only. I definitely would buy a ozone monitor if you buy a do-it-yourself ozone maker for like room disinfectant. This was probably a germicidal light and not necessarily a ozone generator since no high concentrations of oxygen was used.

Anyone try to measure a ORP potential water after dilution or gas concentration? In my opinion, it's not ozonator. This device do not produce ozone, but something other compounds. I aerated NH4OH and sulphar solution by this device. pH the first (10.4) and second (7.4) solutions did not change althought it must have change (pH must decrease after oxidise of NH3 to NO2 and S to SO4).
