That was our childhood... Games always had secrets hidden behind many steps. To know them, usually we had to wait for a gaming "Bible" to unravel it for us. The beauty of it is that, ever since the internet came, every year there's a moment like this. Unending gaming misteries

Probe didn't create MK2, they created ports of MK2 for numerous platforms. Midway was the one that created the original arcades.

Probe Entertainment is not the creator of MK2, they merely ported the game to the Genesis. MK2 was created and development by Midway (present day Netherrealm Studios)

Helps prevent, Red Ring of Death since the best method to fix it after it happens is wrap it up in a towel an leave it on upside down so the solder melts back and makes a connection. Terrible design.

Wow took me wayyy way back, I was bout 15yrs old circa 1995 & was published in Game Informer magazine monthly for SNES XBAND National Rankings for MK2 & KI...some of the most fun years of my life still to this day. The excitement of playing ppl ranked high then realizing you are more talented, more rewarding than winning real martial arts tournaments for me! This is just one of several reasons why the 80's -90's were a wonderful time to be a teenager. Hidden or as the kids today call them "Easter Eggs" were what made gaming so special back then. Whether its counting Bald Bulls charge...waiting for the camera flash, jumping on a turtle coming down steps or frantically pressing a series of buttons at any given time...those were the days.

Mortal Kombat 2 was the game that retired me from games. Some 10 year old at the arcade knew everything about the game on the day it came out and crushed me in seconds. This was before the internet, so IDK how he even learned everything by noon.

Awww as soon as you grabbed the cartridge, I knew exactly what you were gonna do. You can go straight to the armory by putting stage to 7, I believe. I would do it over and over.

I LOVE THIS!!! i remember this code as a kid!!! In 7th & 8th Grade science class our teacher Mr. Richerhardt had EVERY system known at the time in class.. On Fridays we had MASSIVE tournaments in every game he had available and the winners didn't get homework for a week!! When this code hit the street, everybody went nuts perfecting their skills...lol

I miss how dark and even creepy mortal kombat used to feel. Had I experienced it on the SNES in the 90s versus the genesis, I feel like I would have a different experience. This new MK seems like it’s gonna feel as good as the OGs. At least I hope…

This is why I loved my era of games. No internet. We had the ancient wisdom & word of mouth to spread this. Someone would do this somewhere & you learned it from the community. It spread slowly but steady. And once YOU had the knowledge you kept it for awhile & ONLY Shared it with your best friends. It would eventually go from there. 1 person would go to 4 then 16 then 64. Then 200 in about 6 weeks. It left just enough of us out there for the mystery to matter & not have some web site blow every secret on day 1.
