This is what you call a fine display of holding local government accountable. Its their laws and their rules that they are not following. Shutting down these government buildings is a huge problem for many reasons. Its really astounding that we pay for these places and employees and legislate transparency yet they keep hiding behind all kinds of ridiculousness. Bring these people back to work and open our buildings back up to us. Without us there is no government and the entire system doesnt work. Keep up the good work IAMFREE.

I have seen this exact same thing happen on Audit Them's UTube channel. Employees do NOT understand that there's certain records that HAVE TO BY LAW BE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION IMMEDIATELY UPON REQUEST. They just cannot comprehend this & try to make people fill out record requests & wait 5 days or whatever the alloted time period is. I've seen auditors try so hard to get them to understand it's not a record request but Managers are very stubborn & think auditors are mistaken. It's frustrating!

I've noticed consistently that when a citizen says "I don't know about that" when it comes to a legal requirement, there is no sympathy. You are expected to know and ignorance is no excuse. But when the government can't keep track of its own laws, or when it disrupts their standard procedure, they happily offer "we don't know about that" as a catch-all excuse that justifies whatever they want.

It bothers me that we pay for these gigantic Government buildings but we're not allowed in any part of them but the first floor lobby. We rarely get assistance from Government employees. Usually they print off a paper that instructs us to go online. Govt employees parrot the same three words to us over & over & over - "It is online. It is online. It is online." Everything we need is online & therefore we do everything ourselves onlne. So why don't we have less bldgs, employees, less expenses? Less taxes? Why do people work inside these expensive buildings at all ? They don't interact or meet with the public so why don't they work from home? We listen to recordings when we call & we assist ourselves online. This should be recognized in our tax bill in some sort of compensation.

These "public servants" are absolutely CLUELESS! Imagine going to a hospital and having to explain to all the doctors, nurses, etc. how various injuries, ailments, etc. must be treated and they're requesting several days to read some medical books.

It seems to me that the real story is the thousands of empty Gvmt. offices across our Country. We the people are being defrauded in plain sight as their policies, post covid, bolster this level of no accountability and transparency. You Sir are a unique fire brand of auditor and I applaud you.

Anyone else notice the vast open, luxurious space/treatments/decoration/furnishings in that public building? There are thousands of 5star resorts that aren’t as nice as that!! Do the people’s tax dollars REALLY need to be spent on such elaborate/elegant WORK spaces! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Governor Inslave is a worm, so it's not surprising almost all of those under him do their best to thwart transparency. Thank you for drawing attention to how our public servants have lost sight of the fact that they're there to, in fact, HELP the public.

I tell you it's a good thing a little ol'person from the public can tell our government workers what the laws are. My question is, what if you didn't check up on them does anyone think they would be better? They should be prepared for the public at anytime but it seems they haven't tried that hard yet. The behavior and ill-informed nature of many public workers is they have forgotten exactly who they work for, which seems to be the biggest contributor to the problems that plague government entities. Thank You Steve for helping all of us, we need more people like you for sustainable future.

This is so sad, but I'm enjoying this evolving story like a tv series. The topic is sad, but you're doing an amazing job. They should be held accountable for not knowing anything about the laws that regulate them as much as we would be held accountable, prosecuted, punished for every slight misstep. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse both ways.

Exactly. It's like just one less thing they have to do. Not everyone has internet or a computer, some people may have a learning disability or vision impairment. They have to take public records request verbally in person if requested. It's the law. Why are public servants not trained in that.

How quickly they have excuses at the ready. 24:40 - Jimbo is prepared only with excuses, "I'm not aware", "here's a link to distract you", "I don't have my glasses", "we don't control that". Jimbo works in a different department and cannot help the auditor but finds it somehow within his responsibility to participate in preventing and deterring the auditor?!?!?!?!?!? How does that make sense?!
