The way I see it, the owl was intentionally killing those who were near the nest as a warning. Their are multiple times he attacks a pigeon and doesn't do anything. Keep in mind that the owl probably couldn't see very well inside the box, but the pigeons were likely completely blind. If you notice, the pigeons use their very strong wing beat as a defensive weapon, flicking them towards their predators, but you'll only see this within confined spaces, like these nesting boxes, although the owl knows this and keeps away from the pigeons cracking wing beats, then by using it's long legs, it's subdues then kills the pigeons with the characteristic snip of the neck vertebrae.
@theotheseaeagle Жыл бұрын
The pigeons were panicking, they could not see the owl very well so then flailing about was just them trying hastily to find an exit in the darkness. If they were using their wings to attack the owl it would be a lot more head on beating their wings forwards and in a head on position. They also lost lots of feathers because one of a pigeons defence mechanisms is to loosen its feathers so if a predator grabs them it just ends up grabbing a big clump of feathers and they can make their escape

@@Deadassbruhfrfr Owls don't even build their own nests. They take nests that others have built. (It's a common behavior for many birds. Why build a nest when you can take one that's just sitting there?) On the contrary, young eagle couples will sometimes build "practice nests" just for experience when it's not mating season. (These nests are usually then taken by an owl.) Owls also regularly sucker-punch eagles at night... not to eat the eagles or anything. They just want to mess with them at night (because an eagle would rip them apart during the day). Owls steal nests and hit others just for fun or out of self defense... So if you want to call a pigeon a thug, you should also call an owl a thug.
@cvdinjapan79352 жыл бұрын
@@Catenfur The pigeons may have used that nest before the owls nested there, and thought of it as their home. I mean if you take the intelligence of a crow i feel like owls are not far off and if a crow can hold a grudge im sure owls can too and I feel like I know exactly which owl nestling from before this was
@Superfreaky22 жыл бұрын
Actually pigeons are more closer to the intelligence level of a crow than an owl is.

Well then I have a feeling there will be a third video and it will be the revenge of the pigeons and I can't wait

@@Superfreaky2 mmm yeah but the thing is pidgeons in my area are incredibly stupid the one of the smartest animals on earth (the magpie) played with a pidgeon by chasing it till it hit a window and died then the magpie ate it

When the pigeon look at camera is like "HELP ME I JUST WANT TO SLEEP. WHY U WATCH ME SUFFER "
@chenwong10362 жыл бұрын
All parts show that the pigeons were not successfull to hatch an egg with also constant fear of barn owl attacks. It looks like a suicide mission for the pigeons and it's eggs.

I love how the villainous owl just stands there and is just unbothered by its prey trying to escape.

Okay so the when the owls were babies the pigeons came and invaded the nest and decided to lay their eggs and bully the nestlings and so basically this is one of those owls getting their revenge the videos for it are in the description

Idk if it’s because it wasn’t night when the owls were still in there. But i like how bugs start to fester in the box the moment the pigeons moved in.

Evidently pigeons have the memory capacity comparative to a goldfish. Interesting.
@alexmag3422 жыл бұрын
They don't react to their own kind being killed which is another problem, which has been tested, while on the other hand bird species like crows or ravens which are very intelligent would have the owls marked for death for miles and miles, and they recognize and remember individuals and pass the information on to others of their kinds, unlike the winged rats

This is literally better than any series on Netflix "Next time on Avian Feud, the Pigeons hatch a revenge plot that could destroy the Barn Owls oil empire!. And one of them is having an affair with a vole! Tune in next week!"

Will this start a ripple in the future for owls and pigeons? Will they naturally become enemies? This is good data here!

Are the pigeons stupid or what? After being attacked by the barn owl, they just thought 'meh, that's just life, we need to persevere'.

Poor poor pigeon, they're my favourite birds, but sometimes really stupid :( Oh well at least it was a "natural" death, not by some poison in the city.

And the owl got it by the throat, which is a much better death than many animals caught by birds of prey get.
