In China, living expenses include utilities, gas, and property costs, which are about 300-400 RMB a month for me. Meat, vegetables, and fruits are very cheap in China, and if you don't eat in restaurants, the cost of living is very low.
Imagine your parents keep telling you not to approach or befriend a certain kid in your class. They say their family is bad, evil, abusive, and so on. But then, one day, your parents take it a step further-they outright forbid you from going out at all. That’s the last straw. Frustrated and defiant, you decide to go out anyway and hang out with that kid. You worry the kid might be antagonistic toward you, especially since you’ve made fun of them before. But to your surprise, you’re welcomed into their house. Despite following a few house rules (like being polite as a guest), you discover that this kid is actually pretty cool, and you can joke around with each other to some extent. Then, you find out that this kid is actually rich-and you realize that you’re the poor one between the two of you. That’s when it hits you: your parents have been lying to you all along.

I am really touched. This girl will never drop out of school in China. Her mother will be allocated a government-guaranteed house, and the government will give her mother a monthly subsidy, which is more than enough for the two of them to eat and drink. In her case, the university will reduce or waive tuition fees depending on the situation. Even if it is not waived, it will be easy to pay off the student loan after she gets a job (tuition is less than $1,000 per year), and there is no interest on the student loan. I hope she can get out of the haze soon.
In China, if you come from a low-income family, you don’t need to pay tuition fees at the first place.

I read the phrase 天下大同 (tiān xià dà tóng) in Rednote and looked for the meaning, here it goes: The phrase 天下大同 (tiān xià dà tóng) is a classical Chinese concept that translates to “Great Unity under Heaven” or “Universal Harmony.” It refers to an ideal society in which the world is governed with fairness, equality, and peace. This idea originates from Confucian philosophy, particularly in the Lǐ Yùn (《礼运》) chapter of the Book of Rites (《礼记》), where it describes a utopian world where: • People live in harmony and care for one another. • Resources are shared fairly, and there is no selfishness or greed. • Leaders are chosen based on merit and virtue rather than privilege or inheritance.
I am a Chinese, and I didn't want to go to the Internet before, because I think the Internet is very malicious to the Chinese mainland. Actually, it's not illegal for us to go online, only those who make VPNs are illegal. Like yellow content, it is not illegal to look at it, but it is illegal to sell it. However, these people are generally not within the country. In my knowledge, another meaning of 'great harmony in the world' is that most people in the world are the same, and there is no fundamental difference between us. Everyone hopes to live a happy life. Can both understand and tolerate each other
I don’t understand why the Americans do not look at you tube on China’s infrastructures and see how advance China is. Rent is affordable , food is cheap and delicious. The rails systems are cheap and convenient also people are helpful and friendly. Why does it have to be for tic tok to be banned before they discover how nice China really is?

Thanks to the US propaganda machine that has been churning endlessly since birth and for generations now, and particularly over the past several years, virtually everyone has been exposed to an unflattering view (at best) of China by US media. It's where the cheap and inferior goods they've bought throughout their lives are manufactured, so perhaps subconsciously if not overtly they associate the same about the quality of life and level of advancements there, most of them unaware (as it was a gradual process) that today virtually every product they own, medicine they've taken, every piece of fabric they've worn- was made in China. Everything. From the dollar store to the Apple store. They don't consider the level of technological advancement that is powering all that. And the prosperity it must be generating, especially in a socialist, planned economy (concepts they've likely never pondered or have been exposed to outside of the negative propaganda). They're not aware that much of that development and later prosperity, at least in the early days, came at their expense when the factory jobs of their parents and grandparents we're relocated to China by by the profit seeking capitalist class with the complicity of their own government. And now that we've reached the predictable and logical conclusion of that multi-decade and irreversible process, and the material conditions for working people in the US have declined so drastically with no relief in sight, it's jarring for a lot of people when they suddenly see through the looking glass to see not only reality, but what is possible. For obvious reasons, US media doesn't go out of its way to highlight the triumphs of China for anyone. So unless an individual has already developed a sense of class consciousness and is a consumer of content from genuine leftist creators, they simply haven't been exposed to the the reality of modern China (and thereby the reality of the modern world economy).

Comparing to us in Los Angeles here, that is another saving of 25-30% on top of the low cost of living. I guess, if a government doesn’t have to spend trillions on war, it can decrease taxation of its people, and build state of the art infrastructures.
I just returned from my LA trip. May I know if the food order bill already indicated an 18% service fees + taxes, do I still need to pay additional tip? I'm Chinese, and you probably don't see many comments from Chinese folks on KZbin, right? Surprised? Haha. Most of the time, we just can't be bothered to comment 'cause we already know the facts and don't feel like arguing. Chinese people are warm to all strangers, no matter where they're from. I mean all strangers. This is a free country that doesn't discriminate based on religion, nationality, or skin color. You could have 10 nationalities or 10 religious beliefs, and it wouldn't matter to anyone-no one, not even the government, would bat an eye. Well, except for the Japanese. It's all because China's five-thousand-year culture has shaped the way every Chinese person thinks. The warmth of the Chinese people has nothing to do with trying to shape China's international image. I'm gonna say something Westerners might not like to hear, but in the hearts of today's Chinese, everyone believes that Western countries are actually quite behind. And the warmth of all Chinese people is genuine-it's the most basic personal quality, isn't it? If you ask me why Chinese people are warm to everyone, I'd actually find it a bit strange.🤣🤣

Personal data has two and only two uses: 1. For sale to advertisers and 2. for use by propagandizers. America, being the global #1 purveyor of propaganda, greatly desires to have no competition in that field. America is a warring nation, and the first rule of the nation is mind control of its citizens; control of public opinion is an absolute must. It is prerequisite to the building and maintaining of the military-related mindset so necessary to the fielding of a fighting force. Good news though. Technology has grown to the point where the Public Mind is gradually acquiring/developing a mind of its own, with the ability to resist/negate negative social programming.

How to register there? I entered my number, choose right region code and the code didn't came to me via SMS, what's up with that? Is it bug, or sanctions or they accept only numbers from specific countries?
@xianglei-ep4uh13 күн бұрын
there are a large number of people registering, so the network might be a bit congested, especially today with TIKTOK being down. Please wait a little longer or try registering at a different time. There are no regional restrictions for registering on Xiaohongshu.

It seems to be often an issue with chinese apps and websites. Two tips: 1. keep trying; and 2. Try during Chinese business hours. I don't know why, but that often helps.
Problem for Americans is that so much social media is US centric and they don't see what else there is outside the US. Not just China they don't now about.

Actually the income in China is much much lower and therefore their costs of living is that low. However, it is very true that in view of livelihood, Chinese citizens feel more safe and stable and happier. I am scared that when more USA people found out, they will be more angry.. I hoped that things turned out in a harmonious way. For the time being, the US government can hardly able to do much while the economy in the coming few years will be foreseeable harder and harder. I pray for the USA people, and hopes that Trump can find a way to solved all problems.

I went through the entire opinion as well as the oral argument along with the transcript of the oral argument of TikTok, Inc. vs. Garland, Att'y Gen. (opinion issued Jan 17, 2025; Argued Jan 10, 2025), of the U.S. Supreme Court. I got the feeling that the 9 justices that all voted for the ban of TikTok were just putting up a show, i.e. the oral argument was but a facade. They all made up their mind, or even conspired to vote 9:0, before the oral argument.

Ehhhhhh, I would be a bit careful about glorifying China too much. Like the girl at 5:48 talking about the difference between China and America. Tier 1 cities in China are notorious for having high property costs, and Chinese culture that places a level of emphasis on personal wealth means that a lot of guys are finding it hard to find a partner because they aren't able to afford to buy a home in the city. For the working hours thing, yeah maybe some Chinese are well off and able to work less than 40 hours a week. But at the same time, 996 culture is a thing too. I feel like some Americans are looking at social media and forgetting that Chinese social media is just like western social media, people only post the good parts of their lives that are worth sharing. On the topic of making ends meet, keep in mind Chinese youth are under immense pressure, and they are not really succeeding because the economy and job market is bad. Tangping as a social movement started in China, so clearly it's not all roses. The Chinese government even stopped reporting figures on youth unemployment cos it was getting that bad.
@htwen424313 күн бұрын
However, in the past two to three years, the average housing prices in China's second and third tier cities have decreased by half. The housing prices in the central urban areas of big cities have not increased in the past decade,As for 996, China actually has a tradition that young people without experience should do more. Wait for him to work in a company for a few years. After gaining experience, one can either switch jobs or continue working. By then, the salary will be much higher and there will be no need to work overtime, which is why it is said that young people aged 18-30 in China are suffering. After gaining experience, the situation will be much better. I am now 40 years old and I work 6 hours a day, which can support two adults and two children. You can also buy a house and build a house in your hometown.

Discovering things in other countries is one thing. Coping with the new knowledge can be hard for some. American Tik-Tokers will find although they have higher income in the US their standard of living could be lower than the Chinese who have substantially lower income. As an example riding a metro in China cost £0.25 to £0.4 on average. A meal or a taxi ride can be had for just £1. Chinese society has less crime, cleaner and safer than the west. Medical care is also affordable to people without insurance.

It's pointless to just talk about how affordable groceries are without considering people's actual incomes. But imagine this: you own a 1.5 bedroom apartment (462.8ft²) in a major city like Zhengzhou, smack-dab in the center near the subway. This place would cost you around $61,643. You could easily eat for the whole month on just $100 (grocery), and super-fast 200Mbps internet is only $50 a year, modem included. Electricity is cheap too - $6.80 for 100 kilowatt-hours, and water costs a mere $3.80 for 10 tons (plenty for a single person for a year). The property management fee are just $141 annually. With all that, you'd feel like you owned the world! Now, let's talk real numbers. In 2023, the average annual salary in Zhengzhou depended on your job. If you worked for the government or a state-owned company, you'd make around $1,4100 a year. But if you were in the private sector, you could expect to earn closer to $7,884 annually

@@shawlane7723 And you can take out a loan, the loan interest rate is currently about 3%, and only the principal is used to calculate the interest. After purchasing, you do not need to pay any additional fees. Until 70 years later, a small fee will be paid to renew the contract, but there are currently no 70 year old buildings in China, and they will be demolished in about 40 years. Demolition will compensate you at least 1:1 for a house nearby. Then restart in 70 years. So it has been 75 years since the founding of China, but there is still no example of a 70 year old house.
