I think there's an argument to be made that this is Mr. Robot, not the mastermind. The mastermind initially didn't know about the plan to take down ECorp. Mr. Robot introduced the mastermind to the plan. Also, he's wearing a jacket with "Mr. Robot" while he comes up with the plan.

Do we see the "original" Elliot in this scene? The Elliot we see here doesn't remember flipping out at work and destroying the servers. He also remembers Darlene in this scene, which he doesn't at the beginning of the series. I actually think "The Mastermind" appears when he puts on the mask and then disappears when he takes it off. This can also be Mr. Robot but as the "Mastermind" was created to come up with the plan, I think it is that person's under the mask.

I think this is the real Elliot. When he mentioned blacking out, that was one of the masterminds first appearances, since he's hell bent on justice (or it could've been Mr Robot, trying to protect Elliot in some way.) Then the mastermind reappears when he puts on the mask. But this time, for good.

Every time a new video is uploaded it takes me back to the time when i first watched that particular episode. I remember season 2 wasn't as well-received as season 1 but some of the most important moments are from season 2. It's so underrated. Now it's so much fun going back and re-watching the show knowing how it all ends. Every line of dialogue, every little detail means something.

Season 2 is when the show really came into its own. It explores the ramifications of Elliot’s actions, Darlene’s struggle to take his place in fsociety, Price and Angela’s connection, Dom’s introduction as an impartial party etc - it’s all amazing character and world building. I love Season 1 but it was a lot more quaint and simple in comparison.

ALSO SPOILERS TILL THE END OF THE SERIES . . . . He is already burning the CDs at the start of this scene though, which is the Mastermind's thing, as he gets rid of evil people. Also, in the final episode, Darlene mentions that real Elliot wasn't there when she came back to town - just the Mastermind. So it is difficult to say whether he snaps out of it and becomes the real Elliot for a brief moment when Darlene appears in this scene, or whether this whole scene, we are simply watching what the Mastermind was like before he forgot he is just a personality and his memory got screwed up.

I (almost) 100% agree. (also spoiler alert) (Excluding some flashbacks to when he was a child though) before he puts on the mask, he seems way more surrendered and resigned to the shit that life has put him through, as the real Elliot is described to be. Its only when he puts on the mask that we see him want to make a difference and become more like the on-edge, wide-eyed Elliot we know. At first most presumed it was mr. Robot briefly taking over, but looking back after the series ended, the Elliot we hear under the mask sounds WAAYYY more like the Elliot we know from throughout the series (mastermind) than he does like Mr Robot. I do think that the mastermind already existed before this scene, but here we see him emerge briefly. So yeah, just thought I'd give my opinion as well haha

I just finished the show and i’m mindblown and have a bunch of mixed emotions, im kinda angry for this major plot twist because i grew close to the mastermind and thought it was a real person this whole time. I bonded with him. What i’m mostly curious about is how Elliot actually is after the ending. Is he still depressed? Is he the exact same as the Elliot we see in the world the mastermind created? Like, is he a happy, social, normal/basic guy etc. im also curious if he would start dating Olivia even tho he doesn’t know her?!? considering it was the mastermind who knew her.

MM Elliot genuinely didn’t know who Darlene was because when the show starts, he’s only a month old. Plus, he locked up “Real” Elliot in the fantasy loop, a loop that doesn’t include Darlene and that had the side effect of wiping his memory of Darlene. Worse, by the time he remembered Darlene’s existence, he’d already deluded himself into thinking he was the real Elliot. As for your other point, Mr Robot sent the hack to the MM to get him roped up in Fsociety. I understand why you might call it “Convoluted”, but I think it makes perfect sense.

I absolutely love 11:05. God bless the internet. Taking the show and filtering it down to edited clips on a youtube channel sounds, to everyone with a social media hardened brain, like a mundane and anti-dramatic task. You're supposed to gather as much of the original intent of the series as possible by simply showing the barebones clips of the release. You're not supposed to add anything else - maybe spice up some graphics and use the show OST as background music to set a mood for a bit while you link to other clips and some social media. And YET Using a mechanism any clip-watcher is familiar with, the editors chose to add an idea to the process. The clip ends with the same familiar show title in the same familiar graphics font as always, except with the loud bombastic entry of a jumpscare - PERFECTLY encapsulating the severity of the moment in the show. But YOURE NOT WATCHING THE SHOW. YOURE WATCHING A CLIP. You dont get that in the show.. It's just the outro. Except it's something more. I love seeing creative ideas pop up in the most unexpected places. Art and inspiration finds a way no matter what medium propagates it. God bless the internet.
