Theoretical question: if the french had gone for college of artillery, would have royal culvs vs great bombards and that cannon grapeshot ability vs mass jannissaries worked well?

I actually think things werent nearly as bad for orange as they looked. Obviously more/closer production from purple would have helped, but ultimately purple was resource blocked, whereas orange was running a significant surplus the entire time. And yeah, he was losing ground slowly, but he was also fighting at a 30 pop deficit. Imagine if he had 30 knights running around in addition to the army he was already fielding, those Greak Bombards woud have been killed after barely getting a shot off. Instead of going for a wonder, if orange had killed ~20 vills hed probably have been able to sustain an extra 20 knights without going into a resource deficit, esp with guildhall on gold. At least. Purple would have been dried up relatively soon if he wasnt fighting someone stockpiling for wonder and instead actually taking pop-even fights rather than throwing spears into the meat grinder
