Geoff, another great video, man. I want your opinion - I live in central Illinois where trout aren't typically stocked. Do you think that trout-shaped baits like the tyrant could still play? Or do you think shad shaped baits are a better bet? Understand you haven't fished here as much as you've fished home water. Just curious of your opinion on whether bass care about bait profile.
@crazybassfisher10 күн бұрын
I think profile can play a big part however, I don’t think it’s a make or break for the fish. Most of the time, Bass will see an easy target and try and eat it. The tyrant 8 would work great where you live
@jeffahrens624612 күн бұрын

Just started fishing swimbaits and had lots of success this Fall with a 6" Magdraft Freestyle. It's affordable, and doesn't need true swimbait gear to throw. I'd like to try the 8" Magdraftbut would prefer a weedless version. I'd rather not cut the harness out of the standard 8" Magdraft to rig a Beast Hook, but might have to. Any other affordable weedless baits you'd suggest?

Why do you say they put in PVC pipe fish habitat in your lakes for no reason? I have a bunch in my pond that I built from huge 10” diameter pipe and I also have big brush piles. My bass are never around the pipe and love the brush. I would’ve thought the smaller bass would get inside the pipe to avoid the sun in my shallow pond but they don’t. I’ve wondered if they also avoid PVC in lakes without much brush or grass. They’ll definitely take brush over plastic. Algae doesn’t grow on the PVC like brush.
@crazybassfisher10 күн бұрын
That’s what I’m saying, I wish Game and Fish would just take down old and broken trees or bushes and put those in the lakes instead of plastic and pvc pieces of cover.
@jamesbarron120210 күн бұрын
@@crazybassfisher so from what your saying it’s not that good in lakes either. I’d think they’d only use it in lakes with nothing else is available as a last resort. I made a habitat out of about 100 plastic wire spools stacked on each other in towers and each tower connected to the other towers and they avoid it also. I built it for my small fish to have a way to escape from the bass.
