It feels like when a lot of modern games (Triple A or Indie) try to bring over mechanics/flourishes from older gen games it's done in a very ham fisted "LOOK AT THIS NOSTALGIC THING" way though, so hopefully they'd be done with some tact. Maybe I'll sneak them in a project one day.

for me, the animation with the most understandable story is Pant Thief, from the moment 7:00, notice how this work has a real movie script. the Soldier enters the "pants bench", to steal the valuable pants from the city hall, then that arouses the attention of the sniper sheriff, who tries to confront Soldier, but Soldier and his demoman squire ends up running away, which leaves the mayor of the city (engineer) furious by the sheriff, thus making a proposal for him to capture Soldier and his assistant demoman, we as spectators don't understand what the engineer is talking about, but obviously he is giving the location of where Soldier could be, which makes Sniper determined, thus arriving at the hideout from soldier, however when they were about to have a firefight, uglyspy appears.

These animations keep their weirdness, but they feel more “realistic” than others I have seen at the same time. They dont feel like random stuff happening, but more like a different world with its own logic. To me it makes it feel almost like a fantasy world to explore.

This really does showcase the caliber of talent CSF has. Sometimes the changes to facial structure are subtle, sometimes drastic, but I have never seen faces like these anywhere else. Each one is its own character, easily distinguishable from the others. The Demoman in Field Guard looks like he was pulled straight out of Wallace & Gromit. There's that, and the way CrazyScoutFIN is able to create utter gibberish from all the voice clips, and have it somehow come out sounding normal. Between that and the PS1 aesthetic added to some of the videos, and you get this distinct feeling of being a little kid again. When you knew enough words to be able to follow along with the shows and movies you watched, but not enough to know exactly what the characters were saying. Masterful.
