As a LSU fan this is how I see it with Brian Kelly. His seat isn't hot yet, but they just went to the store to get the fire wood to put under his seat. If LSU doesn't make the playoffs this season I guarantee that fire wood will start getting placed under his seat. They played tough but with zero adjustments at halftime and one score from Georgia and they just seemed to quit. Dave Aranda is definitely coaching for his job, although I don’t think he was the issue. It was the assistants around him, particularly the OC he originally hired. Hiring Grimes was a career mistake. Worst scheme there is; bland, vanilla ice cream, gimmick, run up the middle, constant three and outs. With him finally gone (and now is Kansas’ problem), this season will be his proving point. I’m a believer in Aranda, I think he’ll make well with his back against the wall.

That said his contract was $115 Million and runs through 2031 Season. Buyout: $60 Mill 2024-2025. $57 Mill 2026 After that he gets the remainder of the contract at $11.5 M a year meaning it could actually cost less to fire him in Dec of 2026 than Jan of 2027. Basically unless your going to keep him for the long term the sooner you fire him the better, because it really doesn't get much cheaper. After A&M spent $77.6 M to get rid of Jimbo, I don't know if any amount is to high to buy out a Coach if they want him gone bad enough. Again I don't think him getting fired is a matter of serious consideration in the administration at Clemson.
