Thanks so much for this video. It is well edited and to the point. The power supply fan in my older CR10 (bought 2017) was really growling which told me failure was immenent. I bought all 3 fans through your links. A couple of notes: 1- I had to shim the BlackSilent XS1-50 fan. I put 1mm thick washers between it and the bracket to clear the fan blades. 2- The StarTech 60x10 fan is half as thick as the fan in my power supply, but I’ll assume it can move enough air. 3- I used sticky putty (used to stick posters and such to walls) to stick the shim washers to the bracket while I mounted the board fan. I also used it to hold the allen screws to the allen wrench while mounting the board fan bracket to the box, and to hold the screws in the rear fan while I lowered it into place and got the screws started. Hope that’s helpful. Thanks again!

Those are called TL smothers. My understanding is that they increase the print quality by removing "salmon skin" from the print. I don't think they reduce the stepper noise. I have rubber mounts for my steppers, and the noise was SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. You can find them easily on Amazon

Hello, i really need help. Is cr10s from 2018 12v or 24V? My hotend heats up really slowly and cant even heat more than 170C. Hotend 24v fans are really quiet. So i maybe think that half of the machine is 12v and another half 24v?Thanks!a

Hey great video. I was wondering what you call the type of connecter and tool you used to splice together the 2 separate wires? Also what is the type of connection called that you used to connect the wire to the board itself? It seems you have connected 3 separate fan wires to it then into the board itself. I ask because when I did my upgrade I just put them all in with just the fan wires separately and it was very annoying. I would like to go back and organise and clean it up.

Question my cr10s5 fan that blows over the inner board does not kick on when switched on only the fan in the silver power box and back of black casing. I assume this is not correct and I have a failed fan? *edit* pulled the fan and it will run off of a 9volt battery (its a 12v fan) now I’m at a lose why yours runs in the video while installed and mine does not.

I have an original CR-10. No S, no V2, V3, etc. Just CR-10. The PSU says 12V. Output is measured at 12.04V per my DVM. The two chassis fans say 12V, and are getting 12V. I have not opened the PSU chassis for its fan yet, but I'd assume it's 12V as well.

For some reason, your CR-10 looks smaller than mine. It's tripping me out. The fan that makes the noise is cheap, i've replaced all of my fans with ones recovered from a Xerox printer that have actual ball bearings, and i'd recommend everyone to get actual ball bearing fans because of the odd angles at which they are made to work. Regular sleeve bearings will fail all the time.

So at 3:35 you replaced a 2-pin DC fan with a 3-pin brushless fan and only connected 2 of the 3 wires? I'm happy for you that the fan is working in the video, but I have no idea why it is. Since you do not explain in this in your video, I cannot in sound conscience follow your methods. I will be buying a 2-pin replacement for my broken 2-pin fan.

The third wire on these fans is an RPM signal wire coming BACK from the fan... In the case of the CR10S this third wire is not used, and can just remain not connected.
