While not quite a perfect beginner printer, the Sermoon V1 Pro nevertheless sets the bar very high for anyone claiming a beginner-friendly printer in the future. With a fully enclosed design, app connectivity, and even a webcam to view your prints remotely, it's a great quality, safe, and neat desktop printer that'll serve you well for any small-scale printing needs.

Looks great but seems like it has many compromises in order to be more beginner friendly. I wish it had actual ABL, standard firmware, bigger bed and standard parts. Honestly from an intermediate user perspective I don't see how it's justified to buy this over a "traditional" $200 printer if you're already an enthusiast. Still, I think it's great for beginners and this is the right direction for consumer friendly printers, I don't expect the average Joe to be able to set up and maintain an Ender 3, but I can see them taking care of this one.

I have one. Bought it earlier this year. It's a great little printer when it works. The issue is replacement parts. The hotend in the direct drive is not what is available on the market listed as a replacement. And buying an entirely new sprite drive is not the same as the one in the box. Any help or guidance that you can provide would be amazing. Because like I said, when it works ....it is near perfect.

The state of apps nowadays has reached such a low, it figures heavily into my purchasing research. Example: I was in the market for a new guitar amp recently. One that I liked had no desktop support for its tone editing software, app only. Another, you had to use an Apple app only. With more than half its features accessible only via the app. Nope and nope. Who relies solely on an iPad to run a home recording studio? Ugh. I had some RGB case fans once that could only be controlled by an app on your mobile device... seems they left that detail out of their product description. I understand why they do it, but it's just not for me. Or my Galaxy S4. Which at this point can basically only make calls and text, lol. Something about running Android 4 in an Android 12 world. I wonder how long it would take to print the parts for a Gibson Les Paul. And how long before you'd be sued silly 😁 Great review, as usual.

Eugh, that sucks. The entire app ecosystem is so messed up right now too, it's rare to find a useful app that doesn't need some sort of subscription. I understand not being in the age of $0.99 apps anymore, but please, let me just pay $10-$20 for a simple app.

@@MakeUseOf -- Exactly. I'm all for a simple app that makes things easier to operate, but I shouldn't have to give a company my text/call history, access to my photos/videos, and all of my contacts' information to make a fan go from blue to green, lol. I'm not a foil hatter, but I'm not going to make it any easier for a company to sell Jake to someone else, you know? I hve exactlly ONE app on my phone that didn't require any permissions, and it's a bubble level, lol.

yes, there's a reset switch around the side, you need a thin pokey thing to get at it.

Is this better than Ender 3 Max Neo?

I haven't tried that, so I can't say. The enclosed design is safer, and better for print quality by avoiding draughts and keeping the temperature more stable.

If only this had auto leveling. It would then be the perfect beginners printer.

Not particularly fast, no. It's not slow either, mind. But you'd want a coreXY style printer for fast.
