Always amazed me that three musicians could blow anyone out of the water. No big band orchestra, no studio musicians, no backup singers & no strobe lights. Just Clapton, Bruce & Baker No frills, no spills, only the music. Loud music. Glad to say I was there

So was I. I'd been phoning the Royal Albert Hall box office just about every day for a month until on the day of the second night (the 3rd) I managed to snag a return at the B/O, and on the floor as well! Managed to get right down the front by the end, even got Eric's guitar pick and partially saw myself on the DVD during Sunshine Of Your Love 😁 It was an absolutely f**king brilliant show! Still one of the greatest gigs I've ever been to to this very day, I just can't fault it. Great set list, absolutely brilliant musicianship from just three guys with a basic backline nothing else, brilliant sound as well. 😃

I've been playing guitar for over 40 years now... I'M Good, Really Good... But Clapton, the tone and feeling of the blues Comes from another Place. I've played with Many Great guitar players... Live and in studio... But Never with this Master! ❤😊

People need to realize that, after all this time, these recordings can't be compared to those of 40+ yrs ago. These 3 were probably the best improv/ jam group ever, but age takes it toll. For 3 musicians who not only haven't played together for so long, not to mention the different roads their lives and careers have taken, I think it came off pretty well. They played well for men in their 60's- probably better instrumentally than vocals. Ginger blew me me away with his solo, and Mr. Clapton seemed more inspired with his guitar work than I've heard in years. Sadly, he's the lone survivor-- R.I.P. Ginger and Jack --we miss and live you!!

Epic show at MSG that year. Thirty five years later they are still epic. Like Jack said that night “ we are The Cream” The cream comes to the top. The cream of the crop for sure .

Not to mention their drug use when they were together as a working band. Thank God, that they survived long enough to deliver this musical gem, many years later!

Plus, it was just *them* on the stage the whole time...no backup players, no second guitarist, no keyboardist, no backup singers or bongo players. And no "special/surprise" guests, which tends to cheapen the whole thing.

God I loved this band. The absolute forerunners to the heavy blues rock and metal sound. It’s a shame that they broke apart when they did but thank god we got this beautiful something to be cherished reunion. I only wished they’d toured more dates in other US cities when they came stateside in the fall of this year. RIP to the Great Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker who’s been a pleasure to watch here.

I went to the Gorham hotel in 1967 and knocked on Eric Clapton's hotel door. He came to the door without a shirt and told me where Baker's room was on the way to his room I meet Jack Bruce in the elevator, he was real cool.I got to Ginger s room and he came to the door holding drum sticks in his hands. He invited us in and we had a great meeting with him. Sincerely VON LMO

I saw the 35th reunion at MSG in NY. I waited 35 years and it was in the top 3 ( probably #1 greatest ) concert I ever attended. RIP Jack and Ginger. I saw your kids and Eric’s nephew at The Paramount in Huntington NY a few years ago. Obviously no comparison but a good show never the less. We have to keep this Music alive. The Reaction Videos are helping other generations listen to our Music , love it and share it!

I prefer the versions of "Badge" and "Stormy Monday" to the ones that were on the DVD; Clapton's soloing is more fluid and lyrical, IMHO.There's an excellent version of "Sitting on Top of The World" which wasn't issues, either.
@andydixon29803 жыл бұрын
Yep I agree. Interesting to hear old Clapo's unqiue interpretations each time. I reckon his voice is slightly better on the released versions. He comes in slightly off singing Badge, and ends Stormy a wee bit simliar. His solo's though are definately more interesting here.
@rdmkeytohwy2 жыл бұрын
I agree with your comments here. It is nice to hear the whole concert in its entirety in sequence. This gives you the whole experience. I also thought Clapton’s soloing here was pretty amazing throughout. His solo on “Stormy Monday” at this show was better to me and more lyrical. I love the fact that he doesn’t repeat solos note for note and really digs deep when he is “on.” He has gotten slagged so much since he left this group and his playing still has no peer in my book. There is no one that plays guitar like this. One-of-a-kind.

The wide angle static shot is not the most interesting -- EXCEPT when you want to see the three as a band / unit, looking at and subtly interacting with each other. And that seems to be going on a very large part of the time -- remarkable given all the famous personality conflicts. When they were playing, they seemingly communicated fine.
