@@pilarq7886Right! It’s VERY sweet. I would be shocked (and not in a good way) to see/hear that someone desired additional sugar! I myself am a fan of the not-milky, strawberry (or most any fruit) agua de fresca. I’ll simply add water, strawberries (I like frozen, to give it a slight slushy vibe), a bit of ice (if fresh, not frozen fruit is used), and a very minimal amount of sugar. I go for a light, refreshing style drink, that is kind of a lightly-flavored, slightly-slushee drink. Light on the sweetener and not a huge amount of fruit. Not a smoothie thickness by any means, but rather just-a-bit more body than plain water has. Mmmmm I want one so much!!

It's celebrated by the US cuz the French planned to divide and conquer Mexico, if they happened to succeed, they were going to continue their tactics and continue to the north and do the same in U.S. but thanks to the Mexican people who fought throughout Mexico against them, overcame, weakened and discouraged the French and their allies to abandoned their mission. The French underestimated the Mexican people, because it was not only the Mexican military who fought but also the farmers both men and women.

I am white as snow but one of my all time favorite drinks is agua fresca 🙏 Every flavor I’ve been able to try I have absolutely fallen in love with, and I was literally just having a conversation the other day with my mom where I said that I need to learn how to make agua fresca! 😆 This video came up on my feed at the perfect time!

@luzfierro607 Жыл бұрын

It is kind of a festive day here in Mexico. Even kids don't go to school on May fifth, so it's "up there" with our independence day (september 16th) and our revolution day (november 20th) but rarely anyone celebrates it, we just enjoy the free day from school and the extra pay from work since it's festive

Nerd here, the reason why America celebrates cinco de mayo is because by Mexico winning against France they stopped a potential French invasion in one of USA's weakest times (The civil war)

This was actually an advertising scheme from Dos Equis back in the mid 80's. Dos Equis made 3 commercials promoting their product on the 5th of May ..."Cinco de Mayo", since then it has (for the most part) been associated with Mexican Independence.

You don't usually make agua fresca to drink as a stand-alone refreshment, but rather as an accompaniment to a meal, so the meal really determines what type you will make. Obviously, you wouldn't serve horchata with a high fat meal, you'd serve it with a light spicy meal.
