I can already see the craft supply companies coming up with a tool to achieve your exact concept of placing those beautiful inked die cuts. I've never seen anyone do this! Fabulous! I don't have this die set, but getting it. Quick question...if you were trying to do a Gothic white rose, would it be easier to start with a very light gray base like you did with the fern and not grunge as much or start with a truer white base and use maybe hickory smoke and black soot ink? Trying to formulate this in my head before the dies come in the mail.

Good question! And honestly, I would try both to see which I liked better. It’s just paper and your time. I originally was going to go with gray and shade with black for a black rose, but it still looked flat. I really think all you would need would be white paper and black soot…but maybe throw in a bit of Antique Linen or Old Paper in the shadows to add some depth and interest to the black. Ohhhhh, now you’ve inspired me! LOL

I just tried this using Lovely Layers Wildflowers dies using white cardstock with black soot and made my own light gray with Lost Shadow Distress Oxide - both worked well, however I like the Lost Shadow better than white. LS gave a bit more depth. Thank you so much for this technique - it's really fun!
