Best tutorial I've seen in a long time. Not a lot of content creators may realize this but it is very important to explain every single move or step when giving tutorials. Many just miss explaining some steps, assuming the viewers know how they had done them. Many of us are still beginners. But you did the absolute opposite. Very easy to follow and replicate, even for the most basic of beginners. Keep it up!

You know how you are about to do something and you dread it because your PC no longer breathes for me and all the programs I adore went with it...so now I have a MAC but alas, no InDesign, no Illustrator, etc BUT I still have my fave Photoshop and now use the CC one with Lightroom. Having designed high school yearbooks (and taught staffs how to do it), I REALLY miss my layout stuff. AND what do you know, I turn on MAC to do some work and there you are - a tutorial in a layout using my very very favorite, photoshop. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hi Colin! Thanks for the video. Quick question. I'm trying to turn a rectangle into a smart object, but when I right click it doesn't come up with all of the options shown in the video (at first it used to but now it does not for some reason) do you have any idea why? I'm in CS5 and it's just coming up with disable, delete or rasterize vector mask. Thanks for your help :)

+DF I agree ID is the best option for page layout, IF you have ID. People who are on the Creative Cloud Photography plan don't have inDesign. There are also a lot of other things you can do with Photoshop templates. Often I place templates into Indesign and do the typography in IDD.

Hey, um the text on there looks unreadable. I know people like to make pages pretty but if there's text it needs to be readable. I'm sorry for being negative. I do longform and (IMO) easily the worst thing that designers do is to put an image background, not caring whether or not the text becomes harder to read.
