Wow I'm learning AE and am past the learning curve of knowing my way around it. This tutorial pushed me at the end and I almost stopped at fractal noise effect thinking it wouldn't make that much difference since it looked really good already, but I pushed my self on and I am so glad I did. What an extra special touch it made. This tutorial was very helpful.Thank you.

In reference to the fix @10:59 - instead of having to use the graph editor to fix the little unwanted movement AE adds when you make Easy Ease keyframes you can just select the keyframes, right click on them, select keyframe interpolation and change "spatial Interpolation" to linear while leaving temporal Interpolation set to bezier. This makes it so your timing for the keyframes eases in and out but the value of the space for where your keyframes are stays exact. Hope this helps someone!

This is really terrific! How do you find out what every effect does unless you go into each setting and work with it? I'm very impressed with your knowledge! I was wondering if you could direct me to something I am looking for, for my Demo reel opening? I have this idea of like huge gears opening or one gear on top of the other that spins differently from the top gear. Sort of like the movie opening of Amazon's "Dominion?" If you know of how I can do this or know of a video you did that teaches this would you let me know? I do realize that this video is from 2016 but it is still very relevant and will be using it in part of my Demo Reel. Thanks in advance. ciao, R

when applying a time warp to speed it up, it causes the curtains to act strangely. their key frames dont seem to match up anymore, and they wont close all the way, or open all of the way. when i try to adjust the position they just get smaller. thanks a lot for the excellent tutorial. it was fun to follow, but i ended up buying it to support you :)
@creationeffects5 жыл бұрын
Thank you - much appreciated! You might want to precompose the curtains and add a Time Stretch, or enable Time Remapping. I believe that'll work.
@DungeonsDrinks5 жыл бұрын
@@creationeffects oh ok i tried time warp because i dont seem to have a time remap effect. could you tell me where to find that? or time stretch? also how do i precompose? lol sorry for all the questions, im more a premiere pro guy, and google has been providing me varying disappointing results
@creationeffects5 жыл бұрын
No worries! You can select any layer or multiple layers and precompose them by right-clicking them and choosing "pre-compose". This basically flattens them into a single layer which you can then add your time effects to. Just select the precomposed layer, go to the Layer menu, choose "Time", then Time Stretch. Or if you want more control over the speed using keyframes, choose Enable Time Remapping. Just search for a tutorial on Time Remapping if you need to a quick rundown of the effect.@@DungeonsDrinks

@@creationeffects for some reason pre composing them kinda shifts them around a bit. I have them set to start from opened all the way, but when i precompose, they shrink a bit so they start on screen rather than off screen. odd. EDIT: just shifted their postions a bit before precomposing and that fixed it. However, precomposing seems to get rid of the spotlights

Hmm, not sure why. Did you select the option "Move all attributes to new composition" when you pre-composed?

Will your template work with AE2018. Also, Can I use a PNG or JPEG, instead of a Solid?
@creationeffects3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will work in AE 2018. I'm not sure I understand your question about using an image. If you use an image of the curtain, the ripples won't move.

Hey man, so what if I wanted to put that curtain or a cover over a car and swipe it away to a logo reveal? Is that something you could help with? It would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks
@creationeffects3 жыл бұрын
Well you could put a car on the stage, behind the curtain. Or you could put a logo behind there. But you can't make the curtain lie on top of, or drape over the car. You would need a 3D program for that.

Hey. Very cool and helpful video but how did you creat the seats and the stage?

The seats are just images, arranged in 3D rows. The stage is also just a floor texture image that's rotated and position behind the curtain.

Sure, in the Precomps folder, open the folder named "2. Curtain Texture Precomps", then open the "Curtain Texture" comp. You can insert any texture you want into there.

@creationeffects7 жыл бұрын
Nadia Williamson Yes, that's fine. Text, video, or photos will all work.
@slayerthegamer30588 жыл бұрын
So how would you go about adding text to the curtains themselves?
@creationeffects8 жыл бұрын
I'm not positive, but for the template I believe I precomped the fractal noise and text, then added the displacement. There may have been more to it than that, but if you purchase the template, it's all done for you.

@AliAhmad-so5nj7 жыл бұрын
This happens because when you make the keys easy ease the spatial interpolation in between them becomes bezier or continues bezier. It makes the position curves smoother for a smoother motion in case you added a third key. The proper way to fix this is selecting the two keys this is happening between, right click on one of them, go to keyframe interpolation, change the spatial interpolation to linear. Cheers :) .. Great Tutorial by the way. Thanks.
@oherroneous7 жыл бұрын
Select all keyframes, click Keyframe Interpolation, and adjust your spatial interpolation. Just as Easy-ease will interpolate time/speed, so too does it interpolate position. That will mess with your fine-tuning of position though so you want to set it to Linear, not Bezier, to give you more control.
@AngieTaylor6 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial. Thanks. Have you tried using auto-Bezier key frames instead of easy ease? Auto-bezier are generally Better for smoothing out movement and timing. Easy Ease should only be used for acceleration from 0 or deceleration to 0.if something has continuous movement and you just want to smooth the change in speed, Auto-Bezier is. Your best friend :-)
@creationeffects6 жыл бұрын
Hi Angie. As I recall, easy ease is what you want for the curtains swaying because they should decelerate to 0 when they change directions. I don't really ever use Easy Ease myself - I just go straight to the graph editor because it gives the most control. But for a tutorial for beginners like this, easy-ease is a simple solution.
